We ate at The Old Mill Restaurant at the suggestion of a local. It was a Saturday night, and the place was packed. We had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated. The wait wasn't a big deal, though, as there was a lot in the vicinity to occupy our time (shops, live music, river, etc.). And the food was well worth the wait. It was "down home Southern," at its best. My husband enjoyed his chicken n' dumplings; the kids were all pleased with their meals. The children's portions were a decent size, and they all got a scoop of homemade ice cream at the end. I don't eat meat, so I opted for the vegetable platter which offers four sides from a choice of many. I chose the mashed potatoes, green beans, mac n' cheese, and coleslaw. They were all fantastic. Add that to the fritters, salad, corn chowder, and dessert, and I felt like I had eaten a week's worth of meals. Considering the huge amount of food, the prices were fair--$6 for the kids and between $12-18 for adults. The service was excellent and super speedy. We had food on our table within 5 minutes of ordering. I'd definitely eat here again.
