“So peaceful!”
Reviewed July 8, 2014 via mobile

This is our first time staying at this resort. It is off the parkway and very peaceful. There are only 21 units so it seems secluded as well. It's very well stocked and the people are very friendly. I love that I have access to the pool whenever I want! It's also away from the condos so you don't have to worry about disturbing anyone. I was very concerned that we would hate it here based on other reviews and the pictures, but I would come back any time!

We have owned at Mountain Meadows for 20+ years. Yes, it is an old condo. However, on each of our bi-annual visits, you can see where they are working to improve the condos and the clubhouse. There has been a recent change with the board and you can see more improvement happening. And just so you'll know, one of the new board members is an owner at Mountain Meadows and stays at Mountain Meadows so he is aware of the facility and this new board is in the process of acquiring wi-fi for the whole facility. The previous board said it was too expensive. If you want a resort with all the bells and whistles, well this isn't the place for you. But if you want a quiet, peaceful, friendly place that is convenient to everything, then you need to head here. As far a resort amenities, you'll find a nice play area for the kids, a nice pool and hot tub. Inside the clubhouse are video games and a pool table. It's all we need and want. We love this location because we can unwind from not only our daily routines, but from all the hustle and bustle. This is one reason why we bought 2 timeshares here, as has our son and his wife. As far as acitivities, they used of offer these but obviously, not many people took advantage of them. Now, if you want such activities, you work through the sister facility in Gatlinburg to take advantage of them. We have stayed at newer timeshares, many of which did not have a washer/dryer in the unit and found that all the other bells and whistles didn't make up for the inconvenience of no washer/dryer or a shared washer/dryer in a common area.

I just returned from our families weekly vacation in Tennessee, and we stayed here for a week. My dad has owned his timeshare since Mount Meadows was constructed, and since Summer Bay Resorts took over, we have seen a steady decline in the quality of our stay. Let's start with the positives, it does sit in a quiet location, has a good size pool and hot tub, and is convenient to the parkway. The units are furnished with cooking utensils, and has seating for six in the kitchen. There is a washer and dryer in every unit, and three tv's with cable. There are plenty of blankets and towels to go around. The clubhouse has some games to play as well as a pool table and dart board. It is quite visible that the facilities are very dated and desperately in need of an update, but they do appear to be maintained (for the most part)..

Over the last three years, there has been an increase of problems that occur during our weeks here. My dad has owned his timeshare since Mountain Meadows was built, and has traveled to Pigeon Forge for the same week every year. When the condo was locally owned, the quality of service was top notch; however, since Summer Bay has taken over, quality of service and overall security has dropped quickly. During our stay in 2011, some of the local kids began to hang out at the condos, and many times egged/threw potatoes at the units, terrorized the kids playing in the pool, vandalized the property, and attempted to start a fight with my brother in law. When the problems were addressed to the office, they were less that interested in what was occuring.

Our problems on this trip started the moment we checked in. I never did get the name of the lady who was working the front desk during our check in, but the overall friendliness rated as terrible. There was a break in the night before we arrived, and we were informed that our unit was used for the emergency unit and we would have to stay in another unit for the night. We were never informed that this unit would be used as an emergency unit, and they made no attempt (although they said they did) to contact us about the situation. After a lengthy discussion, we were moved into another unit, and the unit had not been cleaned. The maid, who was very polite, brought us a unit that had already been cleaned. We wound up staying in this unit the entire time. The units here still do not have wifi, though they are working on installing it. The stairs to the second floor were completely separated from the wall on one side, and shifted while climbing or descending them. The bug screens for the back patio would not function upstairs or downstairs. The dryer barely dried clothing, and would have to run twice many times to dry our clothes. These issues would have merited my rating with an average score, but due to the nature of how poorly we were treated, I cannot in good conscience give Mountain Meadows an average rating.

I sincerely hope Summer Bay Resorts fixes these issues in the very near future. It is quite possible that they do not know how Mountain Meadows is being handled; however, I will never purchase a timeshare with their company. To those who are interested in staying here, do not expect anything amazing, simply an average condo. The beds are not the greatest to sleep on, and I frequently woke with either back pain or completely unable to fall asleep. With the conversation of the break ins that have taken place in recent weeks, definitely make sure to secure your valuables and keep our vehicle locked up.

Room Tip: Units closer to the office have a view of the woods from the back patio, the others have a view of a...

I was initially hesitant about these condos. They are definitely not flashy, no granite or top of the line appliances. However, these condos were perfect for our family. We slept family of five very comfortably. We saved a ton of money by cooking in the kitchen that was equipped with dishes, a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, toaster and even a blender for late night malts. We loved the peaceful location and that the pool, game room and hot tub didn't have closing times and were far enough away from the rooms so as no to disturb anyone. We were even lucky enough that the wifi reached our condo. We will definitely return here when back in the area.

The whole resort is in need of updating. The carpets were dirty! Yes, the staff was fine, but wasn't any comparsion to the past timeshares we have stayed in. I don't think they use the owners maintaince fees to take care of the place.
They had no activities planned like the other resorts do and like the one review said no internet connection unless you sit by the clubhose door. The pool table and all the games are so old and half the stuff is missing. My husband needs to keep in touch with the office and it was not easily accessable.
We won't return to this timeshare.

The staff here was very nice. The condos are clean but very old and in need of some updates. Our unit had a washer and dryer but we were afraid of using them because the washer was very unlevel and we were afraid it would overflow. There were some cracks where the ceiling and wall meet. The stairs to the second floor are very steep and might not accomodate everyone. We liked the fact that this is a small resort and never seemed crowded. It is a short drive from the condo to the parkway so you will need a car since there is no sidewalk or shoulder that you can walk along. There are no fitness facilities and wifi is available mainly in the lower level of the clubhouse/office. I was able to pick up a weak signal from the master bedroom window which was just enough that I didn't have to leave our condo. If you are looking for the rustic cabin feel or a resort that offers modern amenities this is not the place for you.

we have been owners with mountain medows ever since it was built.we have never exchanged, reason being, its quiet and not far out of town. you can use the pool and hot tube anytime you want, late at night or early morning. the staff is great and will help anytime they can. We even saw a momma bear and 3 cubs by the pool last year. If you want a quiet place to stay and dont mind having all the luxuaries other condos have i would recommend mountain medows to anyone. only complaint is the water pressure in the showers but other than that you cant beat it.
