“Good place to stay if you're into the Pigeon Forge thing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2008

My wife and I stayed here on July 8th and 9th while exploring the Smoky Mountains. I got a good rate going directly to the Red Roof Inns web site. The hotel is located in one of the more attractive areas on the Pigeon Forge strip. We were quite amused at the heavy promotions in our room and even on our key cards imploring us to visit such things as "Black Bear Jamboree", "The Comedy Barn", and "Hoot N' Holler".

The breakfast buffet is from 7 to 10, and the room is a little cramped. However, if you don't mind sitting outside (and we love it to get away from the air conditioning which always seems too cold!), there is a lovely patio just outside where you can sit at tables underneath umbrellas. The coffee was quite weak, so I got mine at a nearby Burger King (just south one block down on US441, next to Calhoun's). There is also an Atlanta Bread Company just a short walk from the hotel, but it does not open until 8.

There were lots of kids at the hotel thoroughly enjoying themselves. So, if you love Pigeon Forge, this is a good place to stay. But if you are strictly a Smoky Mountains nature visitor, you may want to find a hotel a bit closer to the mountains. Traffic is very heavy through Pigeon Forge on US441 at all hours of the day and night.

  • Liked — Nice room, and great value

Our stay didn't start out very well when the front desk wouldn't even let us check in a little early. I've stayed at a lot of hotels and never had that happen before. The staff wasn't a bit friendly. Only one elevator and you usually had to wait for awhile. We ended up taking the stairs a lot because it was faster. The toilets are sooo noisy. I hated every time that I flushed because I felt like everyone in the hotel knew it. The breakfast was very disappointing. The mixed fruit was warm and the biscuits weren't even heated up. The breakfast area is way too small. The room itself was really nice-had a king size bed, sleeper sofa,tables,t.v.,etc. We were there for 4 days and the first day we checked in it was our 18th wedding anniversary.

  • Liked — King size bed and spacious room
  • Disliked — Front desk service (check-in),breakfast

Although we checked in late, our room was ready. We had the kid cabin suite which had bunk beds for 2 kids and a sofa bed for the other 2 kids. Our room had a king size bed with a jacuzzi in the room. Both rooms had TV with cable. The kids room also had an Xbox system (games and controller rental was 10.00 a day extra). A kitchenette with dishes, a refrigerator, sink, and microwave was attached to the kids room. There was a table with 4 chairs and chair with ottoman in our room. The in-door pool was open 24 hours. The king size bed felt great. It was very comfortable. My kids said the bunk beds were fine. The sofa bed was terrible. You could feel the springs ( I put my youngest two 5 yr old and 3 yrs old in this bed and they were fine). The room was very spacious and roomy. We really enjoyed the space. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom was clean. The linen smelled fresh. The view from our windows was the front parking lot and part of the building . All of us enjoyed this hotel and we will use it again when in Pigeon Forge, TN!

  • Liked — The room had lots of storage space and open space.
  • Disliked — The sofa bed was terrible.

We recently stayed at the Red Roof Inn for four nights. The room was clean and spacious. My kids really liked the heated indoor pool. The breakfast buffet was average. Breakfast consisted of 3 different kinds of mini muffins, bagels, toast, biscuits and gravy, cereal, and fruit. The hotel only has one elevator so we often had to wait a long time for the elevator or take the stairs. The main complaint I have with the hotel is with the bathroom. The toilet in our bathroom often did not flush properly and you could hear plumbing noises when people in other rooms flushed their toilets. We had to turn on the fan at night to drown out the plumbing noises.

Since the hotel was clean and reasonably priced, I would recommend the hotel to others.

  • Liked — clean spacious room with mini fridge and microwave
  • Disliked — plumbing noises coming from other rooms

Great place to stay. Our room was in the 5th floor and it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the room has no smell to it. The slow elevator did not bother us because we'd rather take the stairs anyway. So far, nothing but the best for this hotel. Free breakfast was good compared to other places. We stayed there for 5 days and will certainly use this hotel again next year.

Yes, I'm a travel snob. I normally wouldn't go anywhere near a Red Roof Inn, but the reviews here convinced me, and it was definitely worth the $63 a night I paid. A very large king bed slept two no problem. A little firm for me, but some like it that way. Nice pool area, although I didn't use it. Yes, the elevator's slow, and yes, the internet in the lobby went off a lot. But great breakfast, great location, and great for the price. Of course it's a newer hotel and on par with some Springhill Suites and Fairfield Inns I've been in. Pretty good for the area, I'd say. I'd recommend it.

My family and I stayed at this location June 23-27. Overall, the property was acceptable and a fair value. The rooms were reasonably clean and spacious, and the continental breakfast was very good. The pool, however, was very cloudy all during our stay and needed a good dose of shock to get the water back up to standard. The telephone in our room never worked and we advised the desk staff of this problem several times. Nothing was done to rectify this situation; the young kids manning the front desk gave the impression of caring less about good customer service. We would stay here again.
