La Quinta Inn Pigeon Forge Dollywood
Ranked #17 of 91 Hotels in Pigeon Forge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 21, 2005

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the La Quinta Inn. We chose this hotel because we were taking our dog with us. It is difficult to find a hotel that is pet friendly and also that is clean and not rundown. We were happy to find this one.
Upon checking in we were greeted with a very helpful, polite, and friendly front desk clerk. She made checking in easy and made a good first impression. Our room was on the second floor and was a King Deluxe. The room was a decent size, but the furniture was a bit oversized for the room which made the room feel smaller than it actually is. The room and bathroom were very clean. Every time we entered the room we smelled a strange odor. My husband thought it was coming from the air conditioning unit which probably needed a cleaning. After a while you get used to the odor. The bed was a little firmer than I like but my husband was comfortable.
The La Quinta serves a buffet style continental breakfast each morning. Mon-Fri from 6:30-9:30 and Sat-Sun 6:30-10:00. There is two juices to choose from, coffee, milk, hot and cold cereal, grits, fruit, yogart, bagels, raisin bread, white bread, donoughts, and make it yourself mini waffles. You can sit down and enjoy your breakfast while watching tv or you may read your free USA Today paper. There is free coffee in the lobby at all times.
Overall this is a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay whle visiting Pigeon Forge especially if you are traveling with a pet.

We booked thru lq and got a good rate. We found a coupon that would have saved me a few dollars but the hotel would not honor it because they were "near capacity". The breakfast was fine and is from 6:30 to 9:30. It included waffles, bagels, fresh fruits, cereals (raisin brand, cheerios, fruit loops), yogurts, krispy kreme glazed doughnuts, instant grits and oatmeal, breads, coffee and juices. Coffee is available 24 hrs in the lobby. The pool and hot tub are small and are next door at the Super 8. The pool was very cold even in August. My room seemed a little damp but I thought it was just me until I read the previous review.

The place seemed clean and staff was nice. All in all, the place was nice enough...nothing really great but nothing really bad either.

Just returned from two nights at The La Quinta Inn. A few things you may want to know. The Hotel is located down a side street from the main drag meaning it's probably a little quieter than some others on the main strip. The Hotel was clean but there was a strange smell in our room. It wasn't really a musty smell (it could have been the chemicals used to clean it) but after a while you got used to it and didn't notice it. The room was also very damp. After being out all day we came back and the clothes we left in the room felt a little damp, not wet just damp enough that you could feel it. The pool is actually shared with the Hotel 8 next door. It is not really big enough to accommodate guests from two hotels. Also the pool was supposed to be heated but it was just too cold to get in. You wouldn't think they would need to turn the heat on in August but it was so cold we couldn't swim it. Finally I hate being near the elevators when I stay at a hotel because of all the traffic and noise. FYI all of the rooms with 2 queen beds are located next to the elevator. So if you want to get away from the elevators pick a different room type.
All said the hotel was decent, however, I will not stay there again. With all of the Hotels in the area I am convinced there are nicer hotels at the same or better price.

The La Quinta was excellent. When we checked in the manager was very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and simple. The breakfast was crowded at times, but at other times it wasn't. The waffles were delicious. Fast food restaurants are right in front of this property with an easy short walk.

P.S.- Traffic was horrible on the main road and was sometimes hard to get in and out of this place.

We had a nice stay at La Quinta on July 22, 2005. The breakfast was WAY TOO CROWDED so we went to IHOP which shares the same parking lot. The staff was nice, but not very helpful with directions.

Nice average place, though we left Pigeon Forge after only a day. We thought the shopping would be fun, but it was a tacky, tacky town. "As seen on TV" shopping places, the outlets were merchandised like a Wal-Mart and not a high end store to be found. We went to the different shopping areas and each time we were bombarded with Casual Corner, Dress Barn or Kirklands. Coach, Ralph Lauren and Nautica all carried damaged merch or stuff from 2 years ago. Very disappointing.

Unless you love dinner shows or trashy merchandise, look for another vacation destination.

We finished up our stay in Asheville, NC......MUCH BETTER.

We booked our stay at the La Quinta based largely on the previous reviews, and they were all correct. We had a very nice stay at this hotel. As far as Pigeon Forge goes, it is in a perfect location for Dollywood and Gatlinburg. I loved the fact that it sits off the road behind the restaurants, too. It was quiet, clean and the managment was very nice. Our toilet broke about 10:00 one evening, and they had someone up there and it was fixed by 10:30. Animals do not bother us, but there were several on our floor, and I could only hear them as I was walking down the hall - it was never a bother in our room. The morning breakfast was great, but it was also super-crowded, and I discovered that people act their rudest when you are standing between them and a free meal, so it's best to get there early. We will definately book here again for our next trip. Pigeon Forge was wonderful!

The only problem we had was the week of take over (formally the guesthouse inn) they had the signs covered up and the new ones were not up so we had to take extra time to find the location.
Excellent location. Close to shopping, food and attractions. Rates were average. Nice and clean.
