“Good Hotel Choice”
Reviewed July 2, 2009

Typical excellent Hampton Inn hotel. Close to everything in Pigeon Forge. Good service, clean, and comfortable. Excellent breakfast bar. Rooms seem to be a little smaller than other Hampton Inns we've used, but still very nice. Good price for the quality.

Walked in the hotel, no problems getting a room. Two clerks sitting behind desk, neither of them were knowledgeable of the area. We asked directions to a restaurant, which was listed on a sign of nearby restaurants in the lobby, and they didn't know where it was. Asked for a sports bar, and they said there are none since it is a 'dry county'. Along with our key packet we received a coupon for a free desert at a local sports bar a half mile down the road...

Went to the room, through down the bags, and went to dinner. Upon returning, we found ants in the room by the window and porch (we had a river-front room). We went to talk to the front desk, and then they made us come back up with the maintenance guy to show him. We then switched rooms to the other side of the hotel to the top floor, no problems with ants here...

Everything else was fine. Pillows were a little too firm and the bathroom is small. No bathroom vent. Older A/C unit which does not allow for it to switch between fan and cool, it must be one or the other. Noise was not an issue. Internet connection was good. Breakfast was good. That actually reminds me that they had fruit out when we checked in along with cookies and popcorn at night. One thing I noticed while sitting at the desk looking at the parking lot was the Maintenance guy walked the lot frequently, not sure why, but it felt reassuring.

We were staying at all Hampton's this trip, but if I would return to Dollywood I would try a different hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights and were fairly well satisfied. Every staff member we encountered or interacted with were friendly and efficient. We were in a river side room on the top floor and the room itself was fairly spacious and the balcony overlooking the river was a delight. There are two, what I would consider significant, issues. The first is the size and layout of the bathroom. The bathroom itself was small and to try to maximize space they put a countertop on top of what appeared to be a table of some type, placing it on an angle in the corner. But, there was a definate lack of counter top space to place toiletrie, etc. Plus there was no other shelving of any type in the bathroom. The other issue is that the breakfast are is too small of the numbe of rooms in the hotel. It was a problem finding a table every morning we were there. I should note however that this seems to be a fairly common problem at the properties where we have stayed. The choice and quality of the food was very good and better than a lot of other free breakfasts that are offered.

I have stayed at this Hampton Inn several times since it was new. I have found the grounds to be well maintained, the rooms and lobby to be clean and the staff unusually well adjusted. Andrew and his wife at the front desk have always tried their best to make our stay a pleasure. They have a large comfortable lobby with a fireplace, flat screen and a business center with wi-fi. There is an outdoor patio with grillsand tables overlooking the river. The breakfast is above most other "free" fare I have found including fresh fruit and yogurt. Most Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg hotels get a lot of abuse in a year's time and this one is no exception. Rates, of course vary with the time of your trip. I have had better luck calling instead of booking on line. No pets are allowed and a room key is required to enter any door except the lobby door. It feels like a second home to us and we love it. This is not a commercial, just my experience.

Was here over Valentines w/e and was frustrated by the lack of usual Hampton standards. Had the king bed, river view, fireplace and jacuzzi - not worth the $$$. King bed was very uncomfortable (woke up with a back ache every morn) and the pillows were a nightmare - they had no substance and would wrap around your head. Like a head/pillow taco. Make sure you bring your own pillow. The jacuzzi was a small 2 person jacuzzi. Only had 4 small jets near bottom. Not enough jets to do the job. Sides of jacuzzi went straight up and down. No reclining - had to sit to straight up. Jacuzzi room was boring - similar to a bare closet. Room very cramped. Could not open balcony door without banging it into desk - too much furniture. Disappointed all around. My suggestion - there are other Hamptons in this area - stay at one of them....

Whenever my husband and I are on vacation, we prefer to stay at Hampton Inn because we know it will be clean and comfortable. The hotel on the river did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. The location was an added bonus for this Hampton Inn. Within walking distance to mini-golf, restaurants, the Christmas Place, etc.

After spending sometime on the phone the week before with Andrew at the front desk, and him telling me they were the best hotel in town. I packed my husband and 3 kids for a two day drive. Kids could not wait to hit the pool and visit Dollywood. After ariving at the hotel, I asked if this was a Riverview room, they said no, they did not have anymore and they had not put me in a parking view room. After getting to the room, they are not an average size Hampton Inn room. Very small, no fridge or Microwave. Took the kids down to swim, was told that both pools were heated, one inside was not..very cold.. Not enough places to sit during breakfast either..when at Dollywood talked to other guests and found another hotel to stay at next time.
