We really enjoyed our stay at inn on the river July 2012.It was a very cozy hotel. We had adjoining rooms with my sister in law and family which was great. Loved the environment - the river, the fireplace, the decor. It was truly a home away from home. I appreciated the free breakfast, popcorn , coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and the oranges were Delicious! Would definitely stay here again. Suggestions for improvement: Privacy sheers for the 1st floor rooms, better wi fi service and better quality mattresses. A/C was really loud at night.

Room Tip: Splurge for a room with a view of the river

For the money, you can't beat this hotel! It is close to all the attractions. The rooms are very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a nice amenity and actually included things like biscuits and gravy, sausage, and eggs. We didn't worry over seating. We brought it back to our room to enjoy on the balcony overlooking the river. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again!

We stayed at The Inn on the River in July.
Good Things:
Right next to Little Pigeon River
Free breakfast and free popcorn at night
Two nice pools (one indoor, one outdoor) plus a hot tub
Near great restaurants (Mellow Mushroom=YUM)
Near the Smoky Mountains
Friendly and fast service from the staff
Pigeon Forge has many fun things to do near the hotel
All normal amenities of a good hotel- hairdryer, microwave, mini fridge, etc.

Not so good things:

It is located in a very busy area of Pigeon Forge on the main strip, but most hotels are anyway so it does not really matter. The traffic can be awful at certain times of the day and the weekend, but there is really no way to escape this if you stay in Pigeon Forge OR Gatlinburg.
Our room was a double queen with a sofa bed and it was a little pricy compared to a lot of hotels, but it was by no means terrible.

Thank you for reviewing our property. We appreciate your comments and hope to see you again! You did visit during our busiest month; if you are looking for a lower rate, I would suggest coming in June or November if possible. You can find some really great deals in the winter months, too.

he hotel is not brand new and the hall carpets show some wear, but it is very, very well maintained. The rooms on the river are perfect, and you can actually get a view of the river and a view of the strip at the same time, due to the angle of the hotel. The hotel was in a great location and basically across the street from The Track and near all other entertainment venues. The bathrooms were very clean and had beautiful granite countertops. The breakfast was much more than the basics and plenty to satisfy our picky kiddos. If you have never been to Pigeon Forge, you have to understand that it is a busy place and this hotel is crammed into a very small space, but once you get inside you won't feel cramped at all. It's not the fanciest hotel around, but I will definitely plan to stay here again, especially if I can get a room with a balcony. By the way, they take their reviews on Tripadvisor very seriously and I could tell they worked hard to please all of their customers.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for an upstairs balcony room. Also, the main parking lot is located closest to the back of the hotel, but the lobby is located closest to the front of the hotel. You will have to decide which is best for you.

This hotel is nice. It has an indoor and outdoor pool, breakfast in the AM, and popcorn in the pm. The staff is very helpful. There is a river to the back of the hotel which is an added bonus. The hotel is clean though does show some wear from the popular tourist area. Overall it is recommended.
