This was the perfect place when you are in the mood for pizza. It is obviously very popular and all the tables looked like everyone was having fun. Lots of people, but the wait was not that long. The pizza was good and the drinks cold. Lots and lots of interesting memorabilia on the walls. It was recommended and it did not disappoint.

A visit to Big Ed's at least once is a must for any visitor to Oak Ridge. Located in the same building for over 40 years, Big Ed's has not changed anything during that time. The storefront window is emblazoned with the original owner's image. Ed Neusel passed away more than a decade ago, but his son continues the family business of making pizza by hand. A simple menu of pizza, beer and soft drinks to choose from. Red and white checked tablecloths adorn the tables, and you will be given a 5" paper plate and a flimsy plastic fork to accompany your pizza.

When the pizza arrives at your table, be forewarned... IT'S HOT! The melted cheese will definitely blister your mouth so give it a minute or two before you dive in, or be prepared for the consequences. Shakers with red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese are provided along with a napkin dispenser that will be used often during your visit. As you eat your pizza, you can listen to music from their real, authentic juke box, or just look at all of the memorabilia on the walls all the way up to the ceiling. The room is rather dark but never sinister, and you will find families gathering for birthday parties just as often as you'll find young couples on a first date. If it's your birthday, tell the server and show your I.D. to verify it's your birthday, and you'll get a free Big Ed's Pizza t-shirt, a nice gift and way to remember your visit.

As far as the pizza goes, it's good, it's hot, and it's fixed the same way it's been prepared since the beginning. The crust is thin and flimsy, with a thicker edge that is good and chewy. Topping are fresh and tasty but certainly aren't piled on. If you aren't real particular about one ingredient or another, order the special with pepperoni, ham, sausage, onion, green pepper and mushrooms.

The pizza is good. Some feel it's the best they've ever had, others questions what's so special about it. But everyone will agree, you need to visit Big Ed's and decide for yourself. If it's a game night for the local football team, be prepared for a very long wait. Friday and Saturday nights can be a bit busy too, but the aromas coming from the ovens are wonderful and you will be standing under the covered walkway if you can't get in the door. Stop by and check it out, and if you get a free t-shirt, Happy Birthday!

We were told by different people that Big Ed's Pizza was good but until you go there you will never know. The place is a hole in the wall from the outside and needs updating inside but maybe that's one of the reasons why they've been in bussiness so long, the other is the pizza is no dought the best around East TN & everytime we're in the area my family want's to go. They only take checks & cash so don't go and think you will use your debt card or credit card, they don't give you silverware & you are given small paper plates to put your pizza on. If you get the chance to go I suggest you do it and you won't be sorry. Closed on Sunday's!

I was on a business trip and stopped at Big Ed's for a pizza. The pizza is average at best, and the amusement of watching all the "kids" make the pizza's was priceless. What I witnessed was a riot. No one in charge, everyone joking...which is okay, they take my pizza out and it sits there while they all joke around it for ten minutes! I can't imagine how many germs I picked up because of this. There must have been 20 kids working. They were having a blast. It was fun to watch and the pizza is okay. I'm sure business is good due to the lack of competition. Anyway, I'll be back soem time.
