“Nicely renovated”

We stayed here for one night on the way back from Florida. The outside was average but the rooms were very nicely updated and we love having queen beds instead of doubles. Breakfast was pretty good too. We'd stay here again for sure!

This hotel was exceptionally clean, newly renovated, tastefully decorated. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Great variety for breakfast! Great hotel for the price! Will definitely stay here again!

We checked in for a one night stay while passing through, and we were pleasantly suprised by this Best Western. Nice, clean rooms, obviously renovated. Good breakfast. Really nice price after using coupon. No complaints at all.

We recently stayed here on our family vacation. The room was wonderful, nicely appointed and obviously renovated in the last few months. If that was all there was to our stay I would have rated the hotel much higher. Parking is an issue. Simply not enough spaces for the number of customers. Noise from the interstate or 18 wheelers was not a problem, however some of the other hotels guests were quite a different story. The price was very attractive, but was also attractive to a less desirable clientele. The front desk staff were very friendly and did a very good job handling the very grumpy old lady that was checking in as we arrived. Based on the reviews and the brochures from Best Western my family and I were really, really looking forward to breakfast. Great was our disappointment. The food was tasty, yet hard to get to. The hoard of olde travelers would swarm the bar as soon as anything came out and for the most part they were very rude. The kitchen couldn't keep up with the demand. Based on the room and the price I would stay here again. However, because of the other factors I probably won't!

After my experience with this Best Western, I no longer will stay with this chain. My husband and I were caught in a severe storm while on a motorcycle and called to push back our reservation as we could not safely get there. While staying at another BW, we called Newport and they said we would be charged a cancellation fee. Their cancellation time is 4:00 - having traveled extensively, this is the only hotel I have seen that has a cancellation time before 6:00. We came into the storm about 5:00 so did not know we would be canceling. We were planning on staying there for a full week, and they foolishly lost a week's worth of our business. We tried calling BW Corporate - TWICE - and were put on hold and disconnected - TWICE. BTW, the storm? Killed two people, one of which was on a motorcycle, in the area we were trying to reach.

We had booked this hotel due to its locations. When we pulled up to the hotel my husband was quite dismayed, because there were a lot of trucks parked beside and behind the hotel. While the location was great (being right off the interstate) it was very noisy. The reception area was OK, but I would expect more if they start charging higher prices. The rooms were recently renovated and although small, they were nice and clean. Inside the room we didn't notice the road noise as much because it was drowned out by the air condtioner (it wasn't that noisy, just a little more than white noise). The breakfast was pitiful. Maybe we came at the busiest time, but they were out of almost everything and there was a long line for the one waffle maker. There was some cereal and muffins, that was about it. There was one woman trying to keep everything supplied, but she was clearly overwhelmed. The floor and the tables were all dirty. According to another guest the kitchen was being renovated and that was the cause of the disorganization. Overall, we got what we paid for, but we wouldn't stay here again.

We had been in the area visiting Gatlinburg, Grandfather Mt., and Blowing Rock and I booked this hotel thinking that even if it wasnt too great, at least it we were on our way home and it was just for one night. My husband even laughed when I said that I booked a place for $50 (the price is now higher due to renovation). We were pleasantly surprised. I had read about the renovation, but was still skeptical. Our room was nice. It was on the small side, but met our needs for the night. Everything in the room looked new. Nice clean tub/shower. Small refrigerator and microwave.
We stayed on July 4th and we were able to stand outside and watch small fireworks around us in many directions. Loved seeing the mountains surrounding us.
Ruby Tuesday and Cracker Barrel are in walking distance. Waffle House is across the highway.
Found pop machines, but didnt see any ice. It may have been down at the office.(The rooms were in a separate building)
Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. Muffins, toast, waffles, cereal, milk, juice, eggs, and biscuits and white gravy. One thing that was lacking was meat. It would have been nice to have bacon or sausage, since there was no meat in the gravy.
Overall, very nice stay at a great price!
