“Nice rooms, but a long walk to the music scene on Broadway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

The room in the Union Station was quite nice, but, unfortunately, it looked out at an archway and was dark during the day. The lobby, bar and restaurant are all beautiful and the service was excellent. The walk to the music scene on Broadway and to the Country Music Hall of Fame was a bit long, but quite safe. The Hilton seems to be a better location, but I do not know how the rooms compare.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor (I was below the lobby level).

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the hotel lobby, bar and restaurant. I was especially happy to hear about the excellent service you received. The conversion from a historic train station to a hotel presented us with some unique design challenges. The arch outside of your window was actually the entrance to the trains that at one time ran below the building. We do appreciate your comment and for staying at Union Station Hotel.

The Union Station Hotel in Nashville provides a wonderful stay. The 125 guest rooms are well appointed, spacious and well decorated. Our room on the 7th floor had 2 sinks in a long bathroom counter -convenient for 2 women to use at the same time. Soothing colors on the walls, carpet and window treatments, tall ceilings and lots of floor space make this a supremely comfortable hotel room. Check out the 5th floor rooms with their 18-foot ceilings! Didn't use the fitness center because proximity to many fun Nashville activities are within walking distance. Be sure to ask for the brochure telling the history of this magnificent hotel, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977, with its transformation into a hotel in 1986 and a renovation in 2007.

We stayed at Union Station Hotel in March, 2012. The location is ideal for visiting downtown Nashville but I definitely would recommend renting a car while there to see some other parts of Nashville. The hotel is set in an old train station but the rooms are very contemporary. Room service was excellent for breakfast. Lobby bar looked really nice however we didn't have a chance to have drinks there.

The Union Station Nashville is a relatively attractive establishment. The designers, however, went a little overboard with the postmodern decor, attempting to be chic, they failed and deferred to cliché. Service is a high point, however for front desk staff, bell men as well as the restaurant servers. In fact, those service personnel were the highlight of our stay at this hotel. While the restaurant is serviced by attractive staff in the evening hours, it too defers to cliché in its appearance and in the cuisine. The gym facility is abysmal, And is akin g to a Holiday Inn circa 1985. I know Marriott is attempting to be "hip", and I must give then points. However they've lost a great deal in the design elements.

The hotel was ok. Not as wonderful as the pictures or website suggest. If you are into history then you should go see it. I WAS DOUBLE CHAEGED!! I paid for the hotel stay in cash upon leaving and my credit card was still charged. A hotel of this caliber should be more competent that this. When I called to have the matter resolved I had to leave a voice mail because the ONE person who could fix my problem was not at work. If you pay for a luxury hotel you should not be inconvienced a month later by their incompetience.

I appreciate your comments and would like to apologize for the oversight regarding your double charge. I see that it has been taken care of and all charges are accurate at this point. Again, I do apologize for this accounting oversight. I certainly will look into the process to ensure this does not happen in the future. I hope you will give us another opportunity if your travels take you to Nashville.

My husband and I just stayed here for 5 nights in a fantastic suite on the 4th floor. Union Station is a very special place with so much history. My son was getting married at Cheekwood on Saturday. Most of the wedding guests stayed here and loved the ambiance which was a definite positive. We had the Rehearsal Dinner on Friday in the McKinley Room with almost 60 people. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The guests all loved the food and the McKinley Room was perfect--many rave reviews! Everyone commented that it tasted more like fantastic restaurant food than catered food. Angie was our coordinator who made everything work so well for us. And all the staff just couldn't do enough for us. The only minor negatives are that the rooms could use a bit of sprucing up! They are a little tired. And the trains could wake you up at night. But Overall---a wonderful experience!!!! If you have a special event, I would highly recommend Union Station! We will be back!

Room Tip: 5th floor is best. But anything above 3rd (street floor) works. Ask to be opposite side of trains...
