“Great location, great service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2012

We stayed five days at this Hampton Inn while we vacationed in Nashville. The room was amazing, plenty of space, the breakfast selections were out of this world, something tasty and energizing every morning; and we even were able to enjoy the pool on one afternoon! There was free parking and free wi-fi which is a rarity in this town, and the free breakfast each morning was above and beyond the normal free breakfast choices in most hotels. The free shuttle service was amazing as well, and very flexible. I will definitely stay in this hotel on my next trip to Nashville! Oh, and right across the street, you will find several popular fast food spots for a late night snack! Unbeatable!

This hotel is located on Nashville's West End Avenue adjacent the Vanderbilt campus and convenient to several of Nashville's major hospitals -- Mid-State Baptist and Vanderbilt, for example. If you absolutely need to be in this part of town, this is one of the best bets going. First, the hotel is Hampton's usual quality. If you've stayed in this chain's hotels, you know what to expect. The rooms are clean and well decorated. The beds are comfortable. During our stay over Thanksgiving, the crowd was a little light, and the place was totally quiet. I'm not sure we heard a sound outside our room during our two-night stay. Breakfast was the usual Hampton fare. The eggs are always overdone, but there are plenty of other options to choose from. The dining area was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient. The breakfast area has two large TV screens so you can choose a network that suits your political tastes.

A second nice feature of this hotel is the parking. It's free. At a nearby Hilton Garden Inn it will cost you $18 a day. Given the fact that hotels in this neighborhood are expensive, not having parking added to the tab gives this property the edge.

Expensive? Well, yes. During the week this place runs about $160 to $170 a night and on special weekends it can shoot up to more than $200. Generally, though, on most regular weekends (when Vanderbilt doesn't have a home football game, for example), you can get this hotel for around $120. Over Thanksgiving we got it for $98.

The neighborhood along West End and nearby 21st Avenue and Elliston Place is covered up with restaurants -- everything from fast food to fine dining. Downtown Nashville and lower Broadway with their multitudes of eating options are just a short drive away.

If you can't get a reservation at this hotel, you may also want to consider the Hampton Inn and Suites located just two or three blocks away on Elliston Place. The pricing appears to be very similar.

Over Thanksgiving the hotel was having a little trouble with water pressure during the early and mid-mornings. This was probably temporary and may have been a problem with the city's water mains rather than the hotel's plumbing.

All in all we highly recommend this hotel. It's at the top of our list whenever we need to stay in this neighborhood.

Fantastic location. Great hotel with very nice people working the desk. Also, really appreciated little snacks and cookies located at the front desk. Room was clean and they check on us after a few minutes of checking in to make sure everything was to our liking. Would definitely recommend

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Vanderbilt while visiting our Granddaughter at Vanderbilt. The room was wonderful and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They were great at offering directions and services. My husband needed a quick turnaround on pressing his blazer and even though they had already sent their laundry out they called and found a dry cleaners in the area that could do it that day for him and gave him directions for the cleaners.
The location is very convenient to downtown and to shopping areas. We will stay there again for sure.

Good hotel but the room we were given was dark and depressing. Given a disabled room for some reason on ground floor which may have been why it was dark.It was the weekend of an American football match and the prices were extortionate. Too tired to try another hotel and most were booked because of the match and prices would have been high anyway. Nice to have snacks and coffee available and breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Not ground floor

We chose the Hampton Inn after a great experience at another Hampton Inn this summer and we were not disappointed. Only about a mile from downtown and very close to Vanderbilt, the location was great. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And they have a shuttle that takes you within a 2 mile radius in the afternoon/evenings. This was perfect to get us downtown and the shuttle driver was very friendly great at pointing out things to see and places to eat as this was our first visit to Nashville. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We wanted to be near Vanderbilt to see friends. This property is conveniently located, service is friendly and rooms well appointed and clean. We would stay here again. As to room selection, all of the hotel seems quiet enough, but we ask for a room on the back side (away from the street) just to be on the safe side.
