Owner description: The George Jones is a world-class entertainment venue located in downtown Nashville honoring country music icon George Jones. The recently-renovated 4-story, 46,000 square foot building features live country music, a smokehouse BBQ restaurant, rooftop bar, a museum, a gift shop and private event space. George Jones had more country songs in the top 40 of the Billboard chart than any artist in history. "When people ask me who my favorite country singer is, I say, 'You mean besides George Jones?'" That's what Johnny Cash, and millions of others, have said about "The Possum," who gets the Music City shrine he rightly deserves with the George Jones Museum. The country music icon made the world cry with "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and made the world hiccup with "White Lightning." The New York Times calls the museum a "lovingly curated shrine" that is just like George's music: "a deep trove of raw feeling, triumph, tragedy, humor, hokiness and eccentricity." Wow! Going into this museum I didn't know much about George Jones but my boyfriend is a huge fan so we went to check it out. Loved that they encouraged you to purchase a drink at the bar to take with you while browsing the museum! Unlike others that are far more strict and won't even let you carry a water bottle around. Great layout, not crowded at all, and so many fun facts, information, and cool things to see! I came out a fan! I prefer this museum over the Johnny Cash one. The Rooftop bar was a lot of fun after as well, and I heard the restaurant on the first floor had very good food; I would definitely like to return here!

This place offers a great roof top bar overlooking the river. A picturesque place to enjoy a cocktail. Each level of the museum offers a completely different experience. Service was good, particularly in the downstairs bar. Would definitely go again.

I learned a lot about George Jones while going from venue to venue in the museum. Loved the 'used his rider mower' to go into town.

If you love country music and the stars who paved the way, then look no further than this museum, dedicated to life and legacy of George Jones. The museum has almost every artifact that the late singer collected over the years, down to his riding mower he was once caught drinking on. The museum is on 2nd avenue in the heart of the city in an old saved building that was part of the early river city. The have a café and sell souvenirs for those that are interested. On top of the building you get a great view of the downtown nightlife. The upper 3rd floor gives you an inside look and timetable of George Jones early life and finally years till his death. His music, with his raspy country twang helped to shape future generations of Country stars.

If you have not been to the restaurant on the lower level, or roof top bar since April 2017, you are in for a big surprise. The whole place has been remodeled. The lower level looks totally different and had some life music playing. We were headed to the rooftop bar with a group. When we got up there we were surprised to see they had re-arranged the stage area and tables. We were there on a Friday night and they now have a DJ....not live music. I'm sure it might be different on Saturday, but not too sure. In my opinion the rooftop bar will be ruined if there is not live music. They were playing some kind of newer dance crap that I'm sure anyone under 35 loves. It was loud and obnoxious. Could not have a conversation or enjoy listening to the music as we did 4 months ago when we were there. If George Jones could hear what they were playing, Surely he would be turning over in his grave!!!! Very SAD!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Please know that we value your input and take it seriously. The main level has been remodeled to include a much larger stage area to accommodate more live music on that level going forward. As for the rooftop, we're still in the process of tweaking the stage size and location. We do use a DJ part of the time on weekends but will still be scheduling live music a majority of the time. Hope to see you again.
