“Great Service-Hotel needs some TLC”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

I’m an SPG member and try and stay at Starwood Hotels whenever possible.

Like the Aloft/Element concept-the Chicago, New York properties are great. To be honest, service wise, this hotel has better than the other two-staff was fantastic.

This property needs some TLC- a few dings, scuffs, defects in my room-nothing bad mind you-but they need to be addressed.

No bathroom fan and louvered bathroom door. Basic. Supposed to be a mod design, but it feels cold. $24/day parking fee. Good location. Decent price of $114/night through Hotwire. Laminate floor with rug. Two queen beds. Hardly any dresser drawer space.

The beds are as hard as a rock, bathroom not very private, dark lighting in the room, no good spot to do makeup. The setup of the room seems to be unorganized. Like the funky vibe of the hotel and area, but the hotel isnt as functional as it could be

Nicely furnished, clean rooms. In the heart of Nashville's West End, only minutes walking distance from Vanderbilt University. Very, very pleasant and helpful staff. Have stayed there twice, and will stay there again.

But why did they give me the closest room to overnight concrete pour and massive concrete vibrators? Great price though, but parking price was high. Overall, really good deal but you've got to be hip to enjoy their ambience.

I'm local to the Nashville area, however I have friends and family in town for events a lot and it's just easier to stay downtown. When it was still Hotel Indigo, it was always my go to hotel! Great rooms, great staff, and just an overall great stay! Last year I booked when it was still under the Indigo name, however when we actually got there it had just switched over to Aloft. It was still a decent stay but not nearly as well kept as when it was Indigo, and just not worth the inconvenience of being in West End instead of downtown, so I've avoided it since. This past trip however, my normal place downtown was booked so I gave Aloft another try. It's completely redone since it was Indigo, it's still not horrible, but still not as nice as Indigo! I miss the guitar decor! It was incredibly nicely done and very modern, and of course very fitting of music city! The new stuff isn't awful, and of course meant to resemble a loft, but just feels cold and unwelcoming...and the beanbag chairs in the room were hard and just blah. The rooms seems smaller and the bathrooms MUCH smaller, but perhaps just different rooms than before! The hallways now seem dark and a bit dingy. The bedding was a definite downgrade! All in all, the hotel is just average. The bar doesn't open until 5. Their rooms are easily on the same level as a holiday inn around the air port that is half the price. The staff however, was very nice and always helpful! They were even very helpful when we discovered my mom had left something in our room and I had to go back to get it! If you park with the hotel, it's way too expensive at either $24 or $20, but I've never had an issue finding on the street parking. Friends were staying at Hampton Inn on Ellison and the hotel itself was nicer as well as the room, so that will be my second choice from now on when Doubletree is booked. If I had to book here again, I wouldn't refuse, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice and I miss Hotel Indigo!!

We stayed here in May when we retrieved our daughter from college. The hotel was under construction however we didn't have any issues with noise. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was clean and decorated decently. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. We had a few drinks at the bar in the evening and everyone was very hospitable. We would stay here again. It is fairly priced compared to surrounding hotels.
