This museum is one of Nashville's hidden gems. You have to look for it, at the tracks down by the river. The museum itself is the best I have seen in Tennessee for train "buffs" or any young people. Most young people in Tennessee have never ridden a train for transportation. This will tell them what they need to know. They have a Summer Camp that is as unusual as it is exciting for kids. I recommend the museum AND the summer camp. After I went through the museum, I wandered outside to the shed and found two old guys replacing the air brake cylinder on a Pullman car. I learned more from them about train mechanics than from all the time I spent in school or books I have read. I learned that PEOPLE actually repaired and maintained those big, noisy, dirty and beautiful trains I have seen.
