I was just driving down Elm Hill Pike looking for a place to have lunch while on business travel, saw this place and decided to give it a try. The place is very nice inside. There was a very long line, but the staff is very fast. I ordered a slice of the batiatus (stuffed meat lovers) which was huge! But tasted great. I will be returning for sure before my trip is over, next time I'm going for the lasagna, it looked delicious.

We went to the new Joey's on Elm Hill Pike, got take out pizza. Xtra-Large with Italian sausage and cheese. It was wonderful, made us miss home!!! They gave us a couple of Sicilian pieces also and they were great. If you are from the North and looking for what you are missing in pizza please stop by their place on Elm Hill Pike.

Joey's is not your average Italian food. The owners are from Italy, and have brought true(r) Italian food to the Nashville area.

Unlike any flavor found in chain Italian or even other dive Italian, Joey's House of Pizza believes in liberal use of olive oil in preparing their Italian food. Love Joey's pizza and stromboli.

The atmosphere at Joey's is interesting. It's cafeteria style, where you walk down in front of the food and make your selection to the Italian-talking husband/wife owners and their workers. They take your food, reheat it in their huge ovens behind the counter, and in 4-5 minutes you're ready to eat.

Because of this, Joey's is not a true fast-food place cause your food's not served in 1-2 minutes. Neither is it a sit-down place where you are waitered.

It's a hybrid service experience, leaning more toward fast-food but not totally. Plastic plates and utensils, bright flourescent lighting by the cafeteria line but more moderate lighting in the seating area. Seating is 4-top wooden tables with pull-out chairs.

The marinara sauce is flavorful. it's not as thick as Americans traditionally expect their marinara sauce to be, but it's a great complement when dipping your pizza or stromboli in it.
