“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

We ate here at my mother in laws request for her birthday. She had eaten here before and said it was a good place to eat. We had about 20 people in our party, and they did very well considering how large our group was. They don't take reservations, but we called ahead since we had a large group. Our table was ready when we got there (which was a surprise) and the staff did a good job waiting on our party. Food was good, the chicken was a big enough portion to split between my husband and I. Overall it was a good experience and I would go back again.

“Funky Little Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

We asked a clerk at the front desk of the Hampton Inn to recommend a place. We chose this one. There was a wait. The waiter took our names and we stood with others for about 30 minutes. Just as we were about to leave the restaurant, the clerk told us our table was only a few minutes from being ready. We stayed. We were taken to a table near the kitchen, but we loved seeing and hearing what was a fairly organized system of getting the food out. A waiter came to our table instantly and started us off with coleslaw and a bowl of delicious bread that was not too heavy. We ordered the pulled pork. It was the best pulled pork we have had in years and we are from Georgia. It is served with cornbread wedges. They were a little cool and dry. The sauce was good. The staff was very polite. We enjoyed eating here and recommend it highly.

“Very good food...Saturday Brunch!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

The South Street Restaurant (smokehouse) was worth the short drive from our hotel on our weekend visit to Nashville! Not knowing Nashville areas like the "locals", our GPS took us directly to the restaurant. (easy drive from downtown.)
We chose the "skillet" meal of 4oz. filet, marinated in Jack Daniels with 2 eggs over potatoes (which was topped with a wonderful cream sauce with spinach!!) and the Steam Pot Bucket.
Bucket (for one!!!) was filled with oysters, shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn, onions, celery, and potatoes. The breakfast menu comes with biscuits, gravy, grits, and preserves...all excellent!
Will definitely make this a regular stop on our weekend trips to Nashville.
(note... interior a little funky...food is excellent!!)

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is a popular eatery serving “southern home-style food” which means they have a meat and three plate. It is a pretty cool looking place and I can see why people come here to hang out. The staff is pleasant, but the food was ok to bad. I had the plate of pulled pork, chicken and a smoked sausage, the pork and chicken were very dry and without flavor, and the BBQ sauce was poor. Not sure what is in it, but it was nowhere near what I expect of BBQ sauce. The smoked sausage is some of the best I have had. My waitress was nice enough to take the pork and chicken back and bring me two more smoked sausages. Homemade tater tots are actually a deep fried mashed potatoes concoction- which was a disappointment -although they were tasty. My mom had the Steak and Biscuits – if there was white sauce it was a drop-biscuits were fresh and it was a nice cut of meat- no wow factor-my sister and brother in-law both had hamburgers that were satisfactory with now wow that’s good. The broccoli casserole was excellent! We tried a fried green tomato BLT and it was OK, but nothing amazing. For food quality pricing is way off the mark. Overall disappointing.
