Description: As a pioneer of elevated independent restaurants in Nashville, Virago has consistently transformed throughout its nineteen-year reign as the city’s gold standard for sushi and Asian cuisine. Virago's latest transformation is its much-anticipated move next door to 1120 McGavock Street. Refreshed with a more cosmopolitan, yet edgier design, Virago’s new space includes a seductive interior with secluded booths and private dining rooms set against a renewed focus on an energetic, late night lounge scene. Asian inspired mixology accompanies the city’s most expansive Japanese whiskey and sake lists. Sushi Chef Himmi continues his sixteen-year run of creating makimono and nigirizushi masterpieces. More than just a restaurant, Virago is an experience. And the experience is transforming... once again.

So i know we were in Nashville, but we live in Dallas and Atlanta, so southern food isn't hard to get... we found Virago on open table and it had some great reviews... so we booked it... I "think" this is in the area known as "the gulch".. which was about 1/2 was from our hotel and the main broadway party area... upon arrived we were warmly greeted and seated in a nice booth area near the bar... we started with a bottle of unfiltered nigori sake... and shashito peppers... if you know about shashito peppers... normally 1:6 are super hot... well I just happened to get 3 in a row lol...but the sauce they are in is absolutely amazing... worth the sweat!!!next we had some asian chicken wings.. and the KOBE beef cooked on a hot rock.... all absolutely amazing... I would definitely go back and also try the sushi next time as well..

Sushi fish was very fresh. Toro was super. I don't eat rolls so don't know about them Dim sum looked good. Don't waste money on brussel sprouts or mushrooms. Service amazing. Site amazing. Food very good. Location amazing. Wonderful outdoor patio and I hear they have a rooftop lounge during the warmer months. Price relatively inexpensive for such a fun night with family!

Attractive restaurant, good and efficient service, interesting menu with garden, land, sea options on left side of menu , sushi, rolls, sashimi on right side of menu.
We ordered several dishes and were impressed with half of them. Disappointed in sushi roll, dumplings, and sashimi but that could be that both of us have been spoiled by amazing sushi in larger cities that have access to fresher fish.
Overall a good experience , just not fantastic,

Four of us had an amazing dinner at Virago. Service and food were excellent and they were very accomodating with our picky eater! We ordered so many things off the menu its hard to remember everything! Standouts were the rock shrimp and the wasabi crusted tuna but all of the rolls were amazing too. Virago has a very cozy intimate setting and we really enjoyed our time there.
