I've been a patron of Amerigo for at least 20 years. It's in a great location right on West End near hospitals and Vanderbilt. Granted, with so many stellar dining choices in Nashville, it might get overlooked by some; but you can't beat Amerigo for reliable consistency in food and service. I highly recommend the cheese fritters as an appetizer; quite frankly, just thinking about them makes me drool like Homer Simpson.
It's a kid-friendly place too; they provide crayons for drawing on the paper table cover. And don't leave without trying the Tiramisu!!!

The menu is not extensive but has a nice variety of items. I sampled a couple of items and found them to be above average. The prices are reasonable.

The service was good, the bread was good, the appetizer was slightly burned, but still edible. The spaghetti pasta was cooked perfectly, however it stopped there. When the menu states spaghetti and tomato sauce, that is exactly what they mean, tomato sauce - - no seasoning, no spices, nothing. I initially thought, that perhaps the meatball (which is jumbo) was spicy and would make up for the lack of seasoning in the sauce, no such luck - - equally bland. I had recently been in the hospital and the food there had more seasoning and flavor than the spaghetti we had. We would have complained had we been actually paying for it, but as was, we were using a gift card we had been given. We will not be returning.

On a recent trip to the area we discovered this place on foot. The surprise is on the inside. A reminder of Old Ebbit Grill in DC. The menu extensive with Italian specialties. I ordered Tuscan Crab Cakes, and my husband the Lasagne. Both generous portions, and delicious. We recommended it to others, and would go again.

Made a reservation to celebrate daughter's college graduation. Called and checked on it twice. Arrived with large group and had to wait 20 minutes. Was seated RIGHT BY the kitchen at counter height table - NOT comfortable - asked to be seated at normal table away from kitchen - host agreed but would be another 15 minutes. Ordered drinks - was surprised and disappointed that they did not offer champagne - we had wanted to 'toast' her graduation. Finally got to a normal table - had a fantastic waiter who was wonderfully attentive and funny. Food was brought out in a timely manner and was good. Daughter and I had a simple pasta with chopped spices, tomatoes, spinach. I've had the same dish at other restaurants that tasted better but this was ok. The other people in our party enjoyed their meals. The waiter even took pictures for us. We ended up one of the last people to leave but never felt rushed. It would've been nice to have been offered something for messing up our reservations (like a free drink while we waited), but overall it was a good visit!
