Owner description: Established July 2012. Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta, Dolly, Willie . . . There was a time when country music was on a first name basis with its fans. A time when the streets of downtown Nashville were alive with the sound of backroom guitar pulls, Midnight Jamborees and the Grand Ole Opry. Now you can recapture the magic of this golden era on the Walkin' Nashville Music City Legends Tour. Packed with history and behind-the-scenes anecdotes about your favorite country legends, this 90-minute walking tour tells the real story of how Nashville came to be called Music City. You'll see Printer's Alley, The Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Hatch Show Print.Your friendly guide is Grammy-nominated journalist and musician, Bill DeMain. A longtime resident of Nashville, he will show you hidden corners of the city not found in any guidebook and tell you stories you won't hear on any other tour. From APRIL - OCTOBER, tours run Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday. From NOVEMBER - MARCH, tours run Friday & Saturday only (weekdays available by special arrangement for groups of 8 or more)Start Time: 10:30 AM (Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in)Tour Length: Approx. 2 Hours

Wow! The best walking tour ever! Bill not only knows his stuff but gives that extra that makes it all worthwhile. He seems to sincerely care about his presentation and his audience. Some tour guides go through there presentation like they mean it but you know it is all an act. Not this one. I highly recommend this tour if you visit Nashville. I will do it again if I return.

“Great history of Nashville music scene”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Bill DeMain really knows his stuff! He started out the tour by telling us that he is a true music geek, and the tour went uphill from there. We learned all about Chet Atkins and his influence on modern country music; found out about Willie Nelson bunking at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge; visited Ernest Tubbs Record Store; learned about Nudie and Manuel and their stage costume designs; and so much more. Bill talked about the many musicians he has interviewed over the years, including both country and rock/pop stars. This is money well spent and you will not be disappointed.

The tour was fantastic, even in the rain :-)

Bill DeMain is an excellent guide, full of captivating stories about the hidden corners of Nashville. He's heard many of these stories first-hand from the stars of Nashville himself, having interviewed some of the greats over the years. Bill is also an excellent songwriter himself - be sure to check out his music.

“Walkin back in Music City History!”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

Plan your first mid-morning in Nashville with this tour. It's a leisurely walk around downtown Nashville and great introduction to the city. You'll almost hear Chet Atlkins playing his quitar. Bill shares wonderful lively stories of the famed Music City and those great country-music legends!

“Don't Miss This Tour!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

This is a terrific two hours, an easy walk through downtown Music City. Bill DeMain knows the history, he knows the performers, he knows the venues and places you just won't see otherwise. He tells a great story. You will come away knowing so much more about the past 60 years of Nashville music. And then, when it is all over, he follows up with email and links with much, much more. A great morning. Suitable for all ages, but particularly great for music fans.
