“If you have young children, they will adore story time and the puppet shows”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

I've heard that Nashville has one of the best puppetry programs in the country, and I believe it. When I first headed to the library with my toddler daughter, I thought story time would be okay. It knocked my socks off! The humor is aimed at kids and adults, so they laugh and you do too! The actors- The Professor, Mary Mary and Library Pete are wonderful. It is clear that they aren't seeing children as unintelligent- they are kind and respectful, musical and creative. The puppet shows are astounding and it's free! Your child will thank you. You can also always pack a picnic and eat out in the courtyard at the library if it's a pretty day.

“spectacular library”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I LOVE the downtown library; I'm profoundly and very actively grateful for it. Fantastic depth and breadth to the collection and a beautiful space filled with light. One may even buy lunch at the conveniently located Provence next door and carry it to the library's courtyard while listening to the strains of a lunchtime concert. In addition to the treasure of myriad books with staff meticulously recommending choices in addition to prominent displays of the latest new books, fascinating exhibits are displayed that teach much about Nashville and its history and beauty. The downtown library is the loveliest building and is home to the most comprehensive collection but all of Nashville's branch libraries are fantastic and books are quickly delivered to the location most convenient for the library cardholder. Branches have wonderful programs too - children's hours with puppet shows, seminars and town hall meetings, exhibits... We're blessed indeed to have a library system of this caliber in Nashville.

Beautiful and extensive library. Also, the offered kids programs & puppet shows are terrific, as are the free music concerts. Love it.

“Hermitage Branch Meeting Room”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Our group met at the meeting room in Hermitage for 3 weeks. The location is great. Staff was pleasant. We could alter the seating and tables to our liking. There was plenty of parking available.

“Awesome Library!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Nashville is this awesome grand public building. Take time to explore this huge facility. Very friendly staff will happily assist you with any questions you may have. Lots of Nashville history to be learned from wonderful old pictures and artifacts. Tons of computers if you need to access the internet. Fabulous reading room located upstairs. Only negative is the large amount of homeless that assemble in front of and around library.
