“Good Location -- But needs Updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2009

Stayed over Memorial Day weekend. Lots of families and young adults (in for bachlorette and bachlor parties) also staying. The location is nice. Parking is an attached garage that charges $12 a day to park in some very tiny spaces. The gate to the garage was open most of the weekend so I was concerned about safety. Rooms and TVs do need updating, but the rooms were cleaned.

They were a bit cheap on the manager's receiption. Only had chips/salsa, nuts and gold fish out for the hors d'ouvres. Have seen more elaborate spreads at other Embassy Suites. On Sunday they did the full breakfast buffet, but on Monday and Tuesday mornings they did cook to order and kept the sausage/bacon and potatoes behind the line and served you (you couldn't serve yourself). Also they need to invest in a new toaster.

But all of the staff were friendly both at the evening reception, breakfast and at the front desk. Nice business center with three computers were you could print your boarding passes and check your email for free. Also the workout room was nice with treadmill, elipitic machine, free weights and a hot tub. Personal TVs built in the machines.

The restaurant is an Omaha Steakhouse that did offer room service. Did not try. Looked rather pricey!

The hotel needs a do-over. There are the usual stains on the carpets and nicks to the door jams. From the two glass elevators in the atrium, you can see the high areas that need dusting.
The services are pretty good for the price level. It isn't the Four Seasons but the shuttle was very good. Rooms are made up promptly. The hot breakfast in the morning was good even if the coffee is WEAK. The valet parking was prompt and those guys were very eager to help with directions or ideas for an evening out. The evening snacks are pretty lame unless you are into salty tortilla chips and bland salsa.
It is a decent but not overwhelming value and it is fun to hang out near a university. It has good access to the interstate about a mile away.

I travel to Nashville every month for work and always stay at the Vanderbilt Embassy Suites. The main reason for my choosing this hotel is that the rates are reasonable, plus I get Hilton points and frequent flyer miles. The added perk is that this hotel is in the fabulous West End and close to many great restaurants and shops. It's also across the street from Gigi's cupcakes...the best cupcakes on earth!

I read a review that this hotel is in a rough neighborhood. Not true! This hotel is surrounded by Vanderbilt's campus, so there are some campus-type shops (yes, there is a tattoo parlor close to the hotel), but it's completely safe and one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city. I guess everyone has an opinion based on how much traveling they've done, but I was just really surprised to read that comment.

Alfred and the front desk staff are great. They remember me when I visit each month and always greet me with a smile.

The free, cooked-to-order breakfast is phenomenal! They have a cooked-to-order omlet station, waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, yogurt, breads, pastries, etc...the list goes on.

The rooms are spacious and always clean. This hotel is always consistent. Again, I've stayed here once a month for the past 5 months, so I'm speaking from experience. :) It's so popular that I often have to book my stay at least 3 months in advance.

I would highly recommend this to everyone traveling to Nashville!

Stayed for five nights and enjoyed my stay. Can't say enough about the guys that drove the shuttle. They were prompt and courteous and always willing to make recommendations on things to do. The room was clean and quiet. Don't miss Gigi's Cupcakes across the street.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights recently. I was accompanying my boyfriend who was there for business. I loved the hotel, the front desk staff were very friendly and willing to look up restaurants for us upon request. The breakfast is nice, it is similar to any other Embassy Suites, and the managers reception, with free drinks in the evening, is a nice benefit.

The hotel lobby is very modern, clean and cool looking. The room was spacious and comfortable. I did not use the gym, but did take a look at the facilities, which were above average for a hotel gym.

My favorite part about this hotel was the shuttle service. The hotel has a van and a driver will take you anywhere within a 2 mile radius for no fee. We got a ride to millennium park where we enjoyed the Germantown Festival, and then walked back (long walk!) later that afternoon. We also got a ride that night to dinner, and took a cab home.

The location is perfect, right around the corner from Vanderbilt campus, and an easy commute to the tourist attractions downtown. Walking distance from a SATCO, and also a Noshville Diner!

Definitely recommend for any type of Nashville travel.

Don't walk around in the neighborhood unless you want to find a tattoo parlor. It is pretty rough.

The hotel is nice, clean, attractive inside and good free hot breakfast. Room needed some work, neither TV remote worked.

They charge $10 for Internet access and $13 to self park in the garage. Both are tacky when you are paying premium rates for the area.

I recently stayed here for business. At first, I was bummed b/c I couldn't book the Hampton-Vanderbilt, and based on the reviews (I always check TripAdvisor!) the Embassy wasn't as good. I was pleasantly surprised and really loved this hotel. I think it is much better than the Hampton Inn-Vanderbilt! The staff, rooms, and complimentary nightly managers were great. A few minor downfalls- parking is high (I tried the garage one night, but it was a little dark and desolate-so I changed to valet) and there is no free internet in the rooms (there is in the lobby.) I will return!
