The rooms are a little outdated. Not a bad place to stay.

The Radisson Opryland is an older property that needs some updates. First of all, the room smelled musty and to add to that we had a poolside room which added the smell of chlorine to the musty smell. The carpet was worn and actually had a hole in it where it looked like it was melted by something hot. The mirror was worn causing black marks about an inch in diameter around the frame. The sink area was very inconvenient; especially where the plug-ins were located. The public areas have been updated. The restaurant; Applebee's, is attached to the hotel. The food and service was lousy. One positive is that there is complimentary transportation to The Opryland Hotel, The Grand Old Opry, and also to Opry Mills. The shuttles ran frequently and were on schedule when we used them. We were able to get this hotel on Priceline so this review is probably too nice. Had we paid the $129 for the room it would have received a terrible rating but when you pay $40 it is a little bit easier to overlook some of the flaws.

Stayed at this hotel last week and am going back again this weekend. Service was great and rooms were clean. Indoor pool was perfect for the kids and was the reason that we choose this location. Didn't smell the chlorine like other guests complained about in their reviews and we stayed in a room overlooking pool area on 2nd floor. Pool was suppose to close at 9pm, but hotel worker politely allowed us to stay until we were ready to go at 9:45, without asking. Convenient location. We will definately be back!

We stayed here for business at the Opryland Hotel.
Check in was a major hassle! The desk clerk couldn't find our reservations (made online) made us wait while she printed out information for several dozen travelers who got of a bus and came in after us. 45 minutes later, when she finally, unapologetically, was able to find our reservations after all, we had to debate again about the free breakfast that was included in our reservations.

The free breakfast turned out to be a small buffet at the adjoining Applebee's. We weren't especially impressed with the selection or quality of food, but it was not crowded and proved to be an OK place to start the day with a cup of coffee & something to hold us over until lunch. The staff at the Applebee's were extremely courteous and friendly.

The room itself was perfectly adequate. We had an exterior corridor room, which was clean, spacious and well appointed. We did not have the Sleep Number bed that they advertise, but that was not an issue for us. We did not notice the chlorine smell mentioned in other posts in our room, though we could detect it in the interior areas of the hotel. The bathroom was small, but clean and practical.

The hotel is an easy drive to Opryland, but beware that the only parking anywhere remotely near Opryland is expensive pay parking. It is a walkable distance, especially if the weather is nice, but involves crossing a busy intersection. There are pedestrian signals, but I wouldn't recommend it for families with small children, older children/young teens walking alone, or anyone intimidated by traffic. Even for the brave & able-bodied, the intersection is packed at peak times with swarms of confused tourists driving badly, and could prove hazardous.

With that said, we paid $89, compared to the $200 paid by colleagues for a very similar room at Opryland, and we were able to easily see and do all that we wanted at Opryland & in the surrounding area.

Our room was dirty, dark, and noisy. Two of the lights didn't work. Indoor pool (main reason we choose this hotel) was closed during our stay, so we didn't get to use it at all. Our only compensation was a free breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. This didn't seem adequate, especially since we stayed over New Year's holiday and paid prime rate. This hotel's "Satisfaction Guarantee" is an empty promise. Next time we'll stay somewhere else.
