Very interesting and is a very beautiful home. But what made it great was on very knowledgeable and friendly guide (Stephen)! You should check it out the next time you are in Nashville.

“Beautiful facility and fascinating stories!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

My wife and I have been longtime fans of Barbara Mandrell. For this tour, we took along my adult daughter and her new husband -- both of whom know very little about Barbara. It was great to for them to see the property -- but more importantly -- to hear and see evidence of the many people that Barbara and her family touched. Mark (our tour guide) provided some fascinatIng details of her life!

It makes us so happy to read wonderful reviews like yours. Because Ms. Mandrell has been retired from entertainment for 14 years, it is really special when younger people can be 'introduced' to her amazing talent. Even though the Mandrell's don't live at Fontanel any more, their spirit still resides here. I'm so happy you enjoyed your tour with Mark. Come back and see us next time you are in Nashville.

“Not just a house tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2012

This former home of Barbara Mandrell is worth a visit even if you don't know who she is or don't particularly like country music. the house itself is beautiful and the history of those who have visited here can be found by looking at the autographs on a wooden beam in the great room.

Extremely friendly and formative guides fill you in on the ins and outs of the house and Mandrell's. If you didn't know better, you'd think they were family members. The fact that you are allowed to touch, feel, and even sit on items in the house makes you feel like an invited guest of the house owners.

Although the architecture and design of the house is awesome by itself, seeing Barbara's personal address book with names and phone numbers written in her own hand is well worth the price of admission.

Take a detour outside of Nashville and visit Fontanel, it's home, cafe' and grounds!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Your experience at Fontanel is exactly what we want all of our guest to feel. We want everyone to feel at home and have an oppertunity to enjoy this beautiful home and all of the amazing stories that go along with it! I'm so thrilled you enjoyed Ms. Mandrell's address book. Even though she has no ties to the home, she gives her blessing on Fontanel. Her daughter works at Fontanel and she enjoys adding little personal touches. Come back and see us next time your in Nashville.

“Tour of Fontanel Mansion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2012

Spent over an hour and a half touring this very large log cabin (27,000 square feet). The cabin use to belong to Barbara Mandrell and husband Ken Dudney. Way more than a cabin...huge in fact. The tour guide (Mark) was excellent and had a great sense of humor. The great room was larger than my home. Don't forget to have lunch at the Cafe Fontanella. Wide variety of food in a relaxed and airy atmosphere. Tours are on the hour...senior and AAA discounts. Well worth the time visiting this Nashville Gem.

We are so honored you decided to spend your afternoon with us at Fontanel. It is so nice to read a great review by someone that appreciates the beautiful home that Ken Dudney and Barbara Mandrell built. Mark is a wonderful tour guide and we are lucky to have him as a part of our Fontanel family. You certainly were smart to eat with us at Cafe Fontanella! It is an incredible restaurant and it makes us smile when people get to enjoy all of the property. We are so happy to offer senior and AAA discounts! Also, all active military receives FREE admission to tour the mansion. It is an honor to have you all as guest and we hope you come back to see us.

“beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

We were the last tour of the day and had a wonderful experience. Steven did a great job filling us in on the home and showing us how Barbara Mandrell and her family lived in the home. We even got to meet Jaime, Barbara's daughter and had a nice conversation with her. We were impressed with how the new owners have made the mansion a museum of music as well as an entertainment venue with an outdoor stage at the front of the property.

Thank you for coming out to visit us at Fontanel. It is so neat that you got to meet Barbara Mandrell's daughter, Jaime. She works here at Fontanel and really enjoys putting personal touches in the home for all the guest to enjoy. If you can, come to one of our incredible shows at 'The Woods' at Fontanel'. As you mentioned, 'The Woods' is a 4500 seat theater that is nestled in our forest. We have been blessed to have everyone from Willie Nelson to Steely Dan perform at 'The Woods'. Next time you are in Nashville, come back and visit us.
