We took the lunch cruise. A lot of fun. Lunch buffet was mediocre, but, the show was great!. Staff was attentive and courteous. Walked around the boat after lunch/show. Music playing on top deck throughout the cruise.
We had a little time to kill so we were driving thru the mall parking lot and came across the general jackson..pulled in bought tickets for the afternoon ride and had a blast! The food was good the show was awesome. Great music and lot of jokes. Walking around the deck was great. Our only disappointment was it didn't go downtown which we thought it would. The staff was excellent!!
About the General Jackson tour on the Cumberland River: we took this three hour tour (which keeps reminding me of the Gilligan’s Island theme song) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The prime rib dinner was…well…awful. The dining entertainment was not top tier, but it is performed in a large and beautiful hall and the poor performers had to deal with a dead audience. Exception: there were two country singers performing a pre-show to folks waiting to board the boat who were really good. So good that I wondered why they are not big stars already.
Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our ride on the General Jackson. It is a huge paddlewheel boat (300 feet long) on which it is fun to walk along the railings or to simply sit and watch the beautiful Tennessee scenery.
