“Neat old paddle-wheel boat, very average food, solid entertainment.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We had a really nice time on the General Jackson dinner cruise. It was nothing fancy and I would have felt fine had I worn jeans and a nice button down shirt. The boat was nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly though our two server's English was not the best which created some difficulty when they explained the menu. The food was very average and the only low point in the evening. The beef loin was terribly dry and there were more than a few people at our table who did not finish theirs.Think Cracker Barrel or conference buffet quality; good enough but nowhere near great.

After dinner the boat stopped near downtown to turn around. It was great fun to go up top and get a good view of Nashville and its' lights from the river. We got some really nice photos. This was probably the best part of the trip in my opinion.

After we got turned around the show started. We had a great view as our table was #1 right by the stage. If you can get by the stage do. The show was music and singing with a Christmas theme. The musicians were all solid. I am not sure how to convey the level/quality of the show other than to say it felt like like either a stepping stone or on the way down kind of gig. Some singers were better than others though they were all better than what you find in most churches on Sunday. There were however a few standouts that could future stars.

All in all we had a good time though I would probably not do it again. I wish I could give it more than average however at $100 per person it just falls short. Had the food been better I probably could have rated it very good.

“"Does the boat actually go down the river???"”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We went on this little trip last year and it was really wonderful!! This time, even though our table was in front of the stage...the service was terrible. Food was so...so. and the boat never made it past Opry Mills (as far as we could tell) We were going to have this be a "Christmas tradition" every year since we live near-by but never again!! Over-priced would be an understatement! The staff really needs to get their collective acts together. Oh, and an extra ladies room would be nice...expect a long wait after dinner!

“Ups and Downs of the Experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

We booked the showboat for the week following Thanksgiving, when, unfortunately, technical difficulty meant the boat stayed on shore. We were partially refunded for the inconvenience. The interior is lovely, and our food was very good, although the service was haphazard. Our second disappointment was the music. We had not expected to hear a total Christmas program before the first of December - and had hoped for more of a western flavour to the music. We're in Nashville, after all! The quality of singers and dancers was high, but a whole high-volume performance was a bit boring - more soft modulation without the brass instruments, perhaps even a cappella, would have added variety.

“Relaxing Night Cruise to Nashville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

We bought the total access pass which gave us 50% discounted tickets for the cruise. That basically paid for the pass. The show was outstanding as it went over all types of music that TN has been a part of. Going through Nashville at night was very nice. The food was good other than I did not like the dessert.
