We picked Giovanni based on the ability to walk there from our hotel and our love of Italian food. I'll admit that after spending time in northern Italy, it is hard to impress us with the food, but Giovanni came closer than most places. We chose the Lobster risotto special for our entree, and it was very good. One person at our table ordered scallops, and even as far inland as Nashville, he said that they were cooked perfectly and tasted great. The wine selection, although very expensive on average, was excellent.
The service was a little dicey at first, but smoothed out some over the evening. I would say that we've had more attentive waiters elsewhere.
We would recommend Giovanni, but be careful about the bill. We're still trying to figure out how ours was so high in the end, even with 6 people and two bottles of wine. I think gratuity had been included already. Also, take our advice and ask the price of the specials.
