We will be heading to Nashville for our third time within a year in January. It has become our vacation destination for so many reasons. First and foremost are the people. Everywhere we went, people were friendly and welcoming. On our last trip there in September, we spent a day driving the back roads from Nashville to Lynchburg. We came across a festival that had everything from cowboy shooting to recitals by school kids. It was very heartwarming to see the sense of family alive ! It seemed that every where we went, from a gas station, to the bars, the restaurants we were treated like regulars. Coming from western NY, I'm sure our "accents" gave us away as not being locals, but that just welcomed new conversations. Driving around the outskirts of town, we saw tons of houses secluded way off the road beyond gated drives. In some instances where you could see the house, there were tour buses parked in the drive. It was fun trying to guess which star might live there. it seems like around every turn we found something cool and fun and always nice, welcoming folks ! We love it in Nashville and hope to retire here soon.
