Basically, a lovely, attractive hotel with attention to detail which was appreciated. However, we found the room to be very small. That being said, the room was beautifully appointed as was the bathroom. I should be so lucky to have a similar bathroom at home. There was an interesting opaque panel window, per se ,between the bathroom and the room itself which when the lights were turned out, became a nightmare night light approx. 3feet by 9 feet. The night light in the bathroom which we could not turn off lit this space which to my dismay became this large panel of light right beside the bed. I need dark to sleep - I mean dark. Just didn't work for me.

We were impressed, and that is not an easy task to achieve. As an accredited, professional interior designer, hotel properties come under immense scrutiny upon our arrival. Nashville’s Hutton Hotel far exceeded our high expectations. There is no doubt from the very inception of this hotel as a dream in someone’s head, every detail has been addressed and implemented with great care and a discerning eye for high design and sublime comfort.

As you enter the lobby, you are greeted and directed to two small desks, each with side chairs. Here you casually sit and chat with the receptionists. You are quickly familiarized with the hotel, its amenities, and services. We were asked if our visit was due to a special occasion, which it was. Before we reached the elevator on the way to our suite, the hotel’s concierge greeted us by name and offered to assist us in any way possible. We explained we had made reservations on our own at our favorite restaurant across the street from the hotel, Midtown Café, and would be dining there our first night and in the hotel’s dining room the second night.

Our one bedroom suite was extremely well appointed. As previously mentioned, no detail was left unaddressed. As a “green” hotel, there is a card reader inside the room’s entry door which you slip your room key into activating lighting and air conditioning. The bathroom was equipped with two clear glass vanities, shower with electronic controls and rain shower ceiling mounted shower head, plenty of oversized bath towels and wash cloths, a magnifying makeup mirror, hairdryer, and an abundant supply of L’Occitane Verbena bath products. Wonderful lined bathrobes and two pairs of slippers were also provided for our comfort. Free ice is available on each floor. The ice is prepared in individual sealed plastic bags and stored in freezer drawers, hence there is no noise heard in the halls by noisy icemakers. On top of the freezer drawer unit is a Nespresso coffee and espresso machine. Coffee and espresso pods of multiple variety, three choices of organic flavored syrups, and a variety of sugar and sugar free sweeteners are there for your enjoyment. Each room also has coffee service with regular and decaf coffee, along with regular and herbal teas.

When we arrived for dinner our first night at Midtown Café, we were greeted with Happy Anniversary wishes. The hotel’s concierge had called the restaurant to let them know we were having a special celebration. As always at Midtown Café, the food and service were excellent. And this night, we were gifted with free desserts, thanks to the concierge’s phone call. Upon returning to our room that evening, a chilled bottle of Spanish Cava and two champagne glasses were waiting for us with a hand written card wishing Happy Anniversary. And to our great surprise and pleasure, turndown service had placed Colts Chocolates Bumble Bees on our pillows, a handmade Nashville specialty.
Our second night’s dinner in the hotel’s 1808 Grille was equally delightful. Again, the surroundings are chic and embracing. The food and service were excellent. We are looking for a reason to return to the Hutton Hotel as soon as possible.

We stayed at the Hutton about 1 week after it opened. And, it was perfect. The service was top notch! Just one example: They found out that our honeymoon was in Hawaii, and when we arrived, our hotel room had a personal note, 2 fun leis, poached pears and chocolates. The "green" factor of the hotel is a nice touch too. The only criticism I have is that the AC in our room was motion sensitive - which meant it got hot in the middle of the night when we were sleeping. (I have to assume this was an error - not standard. In Nashville, the AC always needs to work!)

The decor is beautifully modern and contains the right amount of "hip" factor. Since our trip, we have also visited the 1808 bar, and it too is outstanding. Great drinks and nice bar food. The Hutton is expensive, but it is worth it.

Wife and I stayed there last night. The rates were more than reasonable. We had a wonderful dinner there also. No complaints here.
