“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed February 26, 2006

We stayed at the Hermitage Hotel over President's Day weekend after reading the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor.com. We were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room - including the bathroom - was spacious and the bed was out-of-this world comfortable. We also enjoyed both of the hotel's restaurants: The Capitol Grille and the Oak Bar.

In addition, the exercise room was wonderful and the free access to a computer and printer was extremely helpful.

The only major drawback when we were there: baggage that we checked before the room was ready was not locked in a secure room, but was strewn on the floor just outside the main elevators in the lobby. Not very secure. Hopefully, the hotel can fix this problem in the future. It seems to me that someone wanting to steal this "checked" luggage could easily do so.

But other than that remediable problem, the hotel was as great as most of the reviews indicate.

Our family (2 adults/2 teenagers) stayed here for one night. We were on a tour through the south and had stayed at 2 B&B's the previous nights. My son was wanting a "new" hotel.
Have stayed in Four Seasons, Ritz Carltons and other luxury hotels and this met expectations and then some!
Staff was courteous and knew our names within minutes.
Elegant lobby, but comfortable, rooms and baths to die for with every luxury. We had capitol view, connecting rooms. They graciously accomodated our little dog.
We all felt extremely pampered and nobody wanted to leave.
We had a grand room service dinner and breakfast that were outstanding.
Definitely a 5 star and would recommend it to any one.
Will definitely stay there again on a return trip to Nashville.

This lovely restored hotel is a gem. The friendly, helpful staff made my partner and me feel right at home during our weekend getaway. Our room was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally beautiful; the marble bathroom was large and posh, with two washbasins, a shower and a large tub perfect for a long, luxurious bath. We appreciated the small touches; not only did we have his-and-his bathrobes, but also slippers. We got not just a bedside chocolate but also chocolate-chip cookies. The local newspaper, The Tennessean, was delivered to our room each morning, but we could have had the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal (you state your choice at check-in). The public spaces are awesome; the bar downstairs (where Dinah Shore made her singing debut) serves a mean whiskey sour along with a dose of Nashville history. The restaurant has great food and somewhat slow but friendly service; you won't mind that it's slow because the surroundings are so beautiful you'll want to savor every moment. The hotel is convenient to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (across the street) and the State Capitol; it's an easy walk to Gaylord Entertainment Center, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the attractions of Nashville's Lower Broad district.

Amazing, outstanding and every other similar word. Our room was the cleanest room I have ever seen. I was asked my name once upon arrival and from then on, no one asked, they just knew. If you want to feel like a king, stay here. I tried to find something wrong with our stay, to add credibility to this review, but I honestly cannot think of a single complaint. The food is superb and not outragiously priced. I got the bath concierge to come up for my wife (it was the first night of our honeymoon). I didn't call ahead, so they told me that they didn't have any rose petals to use. I told them that was fine, but somehow they came up with plenty of rose petals. The robes in the room are very nice as well...Oh, and the fresh cookies are tasty! PLEASE, stay here. If I hadn't seen anything else in Nashville, it would be okay. This hotel was worth the trip, alone.

We usually stay at the Sheraton (and haven't been thrilled with it) when we stay in Nashville. But this time we tried the Hermitage. We could not have been more pleased. From the incredible lobby to the elegant yet comfortable guest rooms, our every need was met. The staff was helpful yet low key. Our room, 416, faced the capitol, and had a lovely seating area, for only $259. A very good deal. If you like the Peabody in Memphis, the Davenport in Spokane, you'll love the Hermitage. So tasteful, all the way. We asked for late checkout - it was granted kindly. We are just impressed as can be! We'll be back. Didn't use the restaurant or bar, but both look cozy. Easy walk to music, good location for freeway access, too. Ten miles from the airport.

The Hermitage was unbelievable! We stayed there the night of our wedding and received a free upgrade to a suite. The room was huge. The robes were the best I've seen. The front desk person opened the convenience store for me at 6am when we needed some advil. It's definitely my favorite hotel ever!

The Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville is lovely. Simply lovely hotel with unpretentious highly professional staff. Gorgeous hotel with large rooms including a jacuzzi tub in the marble bathroom. We planned one night and asked if we could extend another night at the same "special" rate, which of course was a simple, accomodating yes. Great front desk and concierge personnel. Downtown Nashville is pretty barren, but the Hermitage is an oasis of comfort and class. Impeccably clean.
