“Southern Class at It's Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

Upon checking into the hotel for a three-night stay with friends, we were awestruck by the beauty and elegance of the hotel lobby. Our rooms were spacious and most comfortable; the food at the Capitol Grille was outstanding; Vickie, the concierge, gave us excellent recommendations and help with reservations prior to arriving and then while there; and the doormen/valet couldn’t have been more courteous each time we asked for our car. The staff wowed us with each request we made.

This is an American Express Platinum hotel, and we certainly got value with free breakfast, a $100 credit at the Capitol Grille restaurant rated highly by Zagat, and a late check-out. For all guests coffee and muffins are offered in the morning and fresh lemonade and cookies displayed buffet style in the afternoon free of charge. Along with turndown service at night, a plate of various baked gourmet delights were left on our night table.

The location is excellent. We could walk to most attractions in the downtown area, as well as some of the top restaurants there.

We had breakfast the first day at the Capitol Grille restaurant within the hotel. The service was a bit slow, as we were anxious to get out quickly. It was very good at dinner, however. The next two days we used room service in the morning, and the food was perfect and the delivery prompt.

Our only complaint was the hot water in Room 704. It was lukewarm at best. We let them know about this problem, and hopefully it is already fixed. I would still recommend this hotel highly.

We stayed here for four days in April. My wife and I agree that this is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, and we have stayed in hundreds of hotels. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The physical space is beautiful. The front desk personnel were incredibly helpful, The restaurant and bar were top quality.

We stayed about 2 years ago and didn't know what to expect. We were surprised with how amazing it was. On our return trip I was worried that we were setting the bar too high...but it lived up to expectations. Every last detail is perfect. The ONLY downfall is that the hallways can be a little noisy if they are busy in the evenings. But everything else more than makes up for such a small inconvenience.

There is no doubting the wow factor of the hotel, its architecture and the comfort of the rooms.
However we were particularly disappointed that the staff interaction was so lacking given its 5 star status. With the exception of one breakfast waitress, the porter, and the doorman on arrival, the rest of the staff were efficient but lacked the customer service interest that we have experienced from other, less expensive hotels on our road trip including a disinterested maite d at breakfast and waitress in the grill bar.

Given there is a Doubletree over the road, and their staff have demonstrated fantastic service previously, we'd book there rather than here again. A shame as we were so looking for to our stay here

The rooms are very nice gut do suffer with noise from guests in the corridor which is beyond their control. There is a gym which is good and the central location is good for the music scene and state capitol buildings.

Impeccable service, close to Broadway and the best music/BBQ spots in town, delicious food (Capitol Grill) and beautiful, spacious rooms. I didn't want to leave!

The Hermitage is a historic property in Nashville located within walking distance of most of the downtown sites and attractions. It is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. The hotel itself is meticulously maintained - from the beautiful lobby to hallways and the guest rooms. The staff is extremely gracious and responsive. Check in was quick, elevators were fast.

The furnishings are classic and understated, yet updated. The rooms are a very nice size with a king sized bed, nice natural light and plenty of lighting fixtures as well. The only comments I would make is that there could have been some more outlets placed near the bed and desk for charging electronic devices - and the climate control was almost completely silent. It kept the room perfectly comfortable, but I like a little 'white noise' from the fan, and that was not audible. Just a personal preference.

The bathroom was nicely updated with an excellent shower and a luxurious soaking tub. Molton Brown shampoos and lotions were a nice touch as well. Shower head and pressure were excellent as were other fixtures in the bath. Toilet has its own room within the bathroom. There is a flat screen TV in the bathroom as well for those who wish to soak in the tub and watch TV.

Did not try room service but did enjoy hotel catered meals at the business function I was attending and the food was very good.

All in all I would highly recommend the Hermitage as a place to stay on a visit to Nashville.

The Hermitage Hotel is truly remarkable!! The 5 star and 5 diamond ratings are certainly correct - the hotel far surpassed our expectations. From the magnificent lobby, to the attentive and professional staff, to the luxuriously appointed rooms, The Hermitage is a first class hotel not to be reckoned with!! We felt so welcome every time we walked up to the hotel and were greeted by the helpful and charming bellmen. Just walking up the steps into the lobby made you feel like you were going back to another time. If you are visiting Nashville, you must stay at the Hermitage! We can't wait to go back again - it was so hard to leave!!
