A group of seven of my female friends and I stayed at the Hermitage hotel this past weekend for an unofficial 32nd high school reunion-girls "spa" getaway. We booked 4 rooms for the 8 of us (one of the rooms was actually a two-room suite). The rooms were beautifully restored and quite spacious. The bed was phenomenally comfortable and the bathrooms well-appointed. I didn't use the spa services so I cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel. I did use the fitness center which was small but had up to date machines. We ate dinner the first night at the Capitol Grille. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Breakfast was pricey and of average quality-not a particularly good value unfortunately.
I loved the lobby-we found it to be a wonderful place to sit for hours and chat.
The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful and made our stay a memorable one.

Just got back from five days at The Hermitage in Nashville and can honestly say it exceeded all expectations. The hotel is gorgeous, the room was fabulous, but most important the staff was by far the most accomodating ever experienced. Everyone from the doormen to the front desk staff and especially Vicki the concierge made us feel like royalty. In general, Nashville has the friendliest people we've ever met and we loved the city. Also highly recommend eating at Margot, The Standard, and of course The Hermitage's own Capital Grill and Oak Bar. Would we go back to The Hermitage and Nashville? Absolutely!

  • Liked — The staff and the facility itself...room, lobby, Oak Bar, etc.

This hotel was fabulous. We were upgraded when we arrived at the hotel into a fabulous, clean room. The staff was awesome. The decor was awesome. This is my kind of hotel! We were there on our first anniversary, and I had left our wedding cake (the frozen hunk of cake) at home, and I was so sad that I wouldn't get to have our cake on our First Anniversary. My husband made a mention of this to a hotel employee, and after dinner at Mortons (great steak and around the corner), we returned to our room where we found a white anniversary cake waiting for us. So Romantic! We enjoyed the hotel bar at night. Everything was spotless in our room! Bathroom is awesome! Can't wait to go back!!!! This is how all hotels should be!

I wish I had taken photos!

I always wanted to stay here - but of course when I finally was able to, there was a pipe burst on the top floor! Hotel management handled the situation well, and we were relocated from the 9th floor to the 5th. Our new room featured a view of the state capital. The afternoon tea served in the lobby was delightful and the wait staff even provided chocolate milk for my 5 year old who didn't want to drink tea that day. The Capital Grill's dining room was considered too drafty by the staff, so all guests were being served in The Oak Bar. The bar is beautiful and child friendly (possibly because we were all relocated there to dine?) The meal was awesome. And the pumpkin brulee was to die for. I will definitely return to this wonderful hotel.

We were so happy with the beautiful, stately Hermitage. So much of the interior remains intact but it feels up to date. I've stayed at a lot of high end hotels, and in comparison the Hermitage is well-priced for the level of service and comfort. (Guess because the South is cheaper overall than the Northeast or West Coast.) We were treated courteously and kindly, and they took care of things like adding plug covers since we were traveling with a baby. There were a couple small housekeeping snafus; we asked the towels not be replaced as part of their "green" program, but instead they took them AWAY so we were left with no towels! Oops. And they would throw out barely used soaps and that sort of thing. But overall we loved it, esp. the cookies in the lobby, and had a delicious sophisticated meal at the restaurant.

We recently spent 4 nights here at the beautiful Hermitage. We chose it based on all the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. Everyone, from the minute we arrived to the day we left. was extremely courteous and friendly. I must compliment Vickie Hudson from Concierge who was most helpful.
On one particular day, housekeeping removed 2 bottles of partially empty wine from our room. They were corked and on ice. When I called the front desk and asked if they could locate the missing bottles, they instead delivered 2 new bottles of wine to our room! What a nice gesture!
We had lunch and breakfast in the Capitol Grille located in the hotel. Both meals were good; however, service was very slow. We didn't mind the 2 hour lunch because we had no place to go. But 1 & 1/2 hr. for breakfast was a little bit too long to eat pancakes. There's a great place just up the block called "417 Union". Their breakfasts are great and very reasonable.
The hotel is located downtown in walking distance from the clubs, but, remember, it's hilly, so one way you will be walking up hill. The Grand Ole Opry is about 15-20 min. away.
Be sure to take the Nash Trash Tour. It was great!
If I were to return to Nashville I would definitely stay at the Hermitage. It's expensive but worth every penny.

I am always nervous about visiting a new place and wondering if I made the correct choice in lodging. Here, we difinitely did. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms larger than average. The shower gel really stood out, as did the heavy-duty towels. At first, we were concerned with the parking...you have to pull up in the right lane of the street and leave your vehicle. The parking is valet only. But, it appeared to be a system that worked well. The capital was within walking distance. Driving to Opry Mills, the Grand Ole Opry and other attractions takes ab 15 minutes, but not that big a deal. Every morning, there was coffee and tea in the lobby. However, there was no place to grab a quick roll or donut within the hotel. Traveling with kids, that would have been nice. Breakfast at a sit-down is too big an ordeal. Everyone was so friendly and we really enjoyed ourselves. We definitely want to return to Nashville and will only stay at the Hermitage.
