Owner description: Experience Cheekwood, the 55-acre estate built by the Maxwell House Coffee fortune in Nashville, Tennessee, and one of the finest examples of an American Country Place Era Estate in the United States. The Botanical Garden is a spectacular showcase of color and horticultural diversity with eleven specialty display gardens and stunning natural landscape. The Museum of Art has collections of Painting, Sculpture and Decorative Arts. Visitors can enjoy year-round family-friendly activities with four distinct festivals held during the year. From Cheekwood in Bloom with more than 50,000 tulips in the Spring, to a children’s wonderland of Christmas trees, Trains, Santa, live reindeer, and more during Holiday at Cheekwood, Cheekwood celebrates the seasons in style with something for everyone!

We love touring gardens, so when we were in Nashville, we checked out Cheekwood Gardens. The gardens were not at all well maintained. They need to hire a few more gardeners to properly maintain this estate. Be aware that added to your ticket price is a parking fee. And the "art exhibit" on currently has only one virtue: kids think the neon-colored plastic animals are great! In my humble opinion, it is the silliest art show ever. No redeeming social or other value.

The gardens and mansion are a nice excursion if you have time. But it is not a must see if you have a limited amount of time in Nashville.

Cheekwood is a beautiful place. The sweeping grounds hold a huge variety of plants and trees. The mansion on the grounds is gorgeous. The tour was very interesting.

My daughter and I were quite disappointed in these gardens. The walk was nice and shady. We kept hoping to see the flowers and only saw a few. Maybe we are just spoiled with other botanical gardens we have been too. There were few signs to indicate what the trees, shrubs, etc. were. The mansion was interesting, but it does need some work (hence the high price of admission?). We did not enjoy the recycled plastic artwork -- not our cup of tea. If you just want a walk in the woods, then this is your place. If you want to see beautiful flower gardens -- go somewhere else.
