Owner description: Add some exotic to the everyday with Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Wander through a lush canopy of bamboo, come face to face with a clouded leopard, feed some Australian parrots, and delve into the far reaches of the Amazon. Nashville Zoo is your ticket to African giraffes, poison arrow frogs, zebras, red pandas, kangaroos, gibbons, meerkats and much more! Children of all ages will be fascinated with the zoo’s Highlighted Habitats. Find out why a baby giraffe likes warm temperatures. Walk the winding path through 4,500 square feet of naturalistic Australian landscape in the Kangaroo Kickabout. In the Kickabout, you will be in the home of a troop of red kangaroos. Keep your eyes and ears open for the cockatoos that also live in Kangaroo Kickabout. In between your animal adventures, be sure to take a spin on our Wild Animal Carousel, get a new view of the Zoo from Soaring Eagle zip line, monkey around our 66,000-square-foot Jungle Gym, or even step back in time on the walking tour at our Grassmere Historic Home and Farm. When you visit the 1810 historic home, you will learn about the name “Grassmere” and how the zoo came to be located there.

“Not worth the money”
Reviewed August 9, 2014

For the price of admission, I expected more. We arrived at 4 in the afternoon and within 30 minutes, all the concessions were closed. The zoo didn't close until 6 and it was a hot, steamy day. There was nowhere to get a drink or something to eat. And the few employees we saw seemed less than interested in being there.
As for the animals, they were a disappointment. While we enjoyed the meerkats and the house with the turtles and spiders, the rest was just OK. Saw very few large animals. I suggest you skip this zoo. I'd rather go to the St. Louis Zoo any day.

“really neat”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

We went too late in the day...around noon.....it was already too hot to see some of the animals because they were inthe shade. The lorikeet cage was awesome! We got to feed them by holding a cup of nectar. They wwould light on us and lick it out with their tongues...I had never seen a bird tongue before lol

“Nice Zoo”
Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

Leave into several different Susan including Baltimore Pittsburgh. The Nashville zoo is a very nice Sue wants a different attractions. Lots of things under construction so that's always good. With the carousel for the kids to ride which they really enjoyed there's also a train for the children to ride making feed the animals.

“Lots of animals”
Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

Great zoo! Lots of exhibits and they are adding more. Large play area for kids. Plenty if food choices and refillable drinks. Only drawback is you have to pay to park, try to carpool to cut down on cost of parking. Worth the trip.

“big zoo”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

I'm a big zoo person always love to visit one in every city I visit, I must say it is one of my favorites. It is big with lots of walking so if it is hot bring lots of water. There are just to many animals to mention but the place does not disappoint, plan to spend the whole day. Nice clean property also with lots of photo opportunities, well worth the price of admission.
