Great place for kids, lots of large animals (elephants!!), grounds are well kept.
If traveling with little kids, this place is a must.

I've seen a lot of reviews blasting the Nashville Zoo, but I don't understand that at all. It is missing some key animals (i.e., lions) but it has amazing habitats for a variety of other animals. They were building a new Kangaroo Kickabout when we were there which looks quite promising. This zoo is shady and spacious. Someone at our hotel told us we would make it through in 30 minutes. PLEASE! We were there over three hours and loved every minute of it.

Exhibits set up so that you wonder how the animals don't get out - makes for great pictures without fences, bars or wires. Able to walk entire zoo in a day's time. Would go back.

Loved the zoo; have never been so close to an elephant! Not crowded, nicely kept, and the kids loved the Icee things with free refills. The best part, however, was the historical house and grounds!! Amazing! Did not expect this as I had not read any info. Have never seen anything quite like this and honestly the zoo ended up just being a bonus:)

The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is pretty and there is a lot of shade on the walkways, which is a must on the hot, humid Nashville summer days. The elephant exhibit is very nice and the indoor exhibit called "Unseen New World" was very good. However, it seemed like a lot of walking for not many animals in the other parts of the zoo.
