“Eat Before/After, Audio Tour Worthwhile”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

Planning note: We went directly to The Hermitage and planned to have lunch in the cafe before we got started. The cafe is not open so you need to eat before you arrive or after you leave.

It takes 2-3 hours to see what this site has to offer. The centerpiece is the 2-story Greek Revival mansion that was the home of Andrew Jackson. Whether you agree with his policies or politics doesn't matter. It is a good way to learn more quickly, and to see a home that still has a lot of the original furnishings, rugs, floors, etc.

There are guides in the house, and the audio tour (included with admission) is easy to use and good to have for the museum and the rest of the grounds. Listen to those items of interest and skip the rest.

The grounds are beautiful and the tour through the house was amazing. What a great way to get a history lesson. Walking the property was like going back in time.

“Do the Wagon Ride”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Took the wagon ride with Craig, the most interesting tour guide and story teller I have ever heard. The wagon is horse-drawn and covered the places were the slaves would be working and living. Went through fields where crops would have been and with a little bit of imagination you could be back in time. The house is filled with furnishings from the Jackson family.
