“Pleasantly Surprised”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. I live in Nashville and we wanted to stay at a hotel in the Opryland area with an indoor pool for my son's 8th birthday. I'm so happy we chose this one. After shopping and eating at Opry Mills we headed to the hotel for some swimming. Since we were staying on a weeknight we had the pool to ourselves. The pictures don't quite give you and idea of the size of the pool, but let me tell you, it's more than a decent size. We also enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The hotel doesn't provide a free breakfast, but I'm fine with that and knew it when I booked. I'm not a morning person so we rarely take part in the free breakfasts at other hotels, anyway. We're more about what the hotel provides during the evening hours. I really like the idea behind The Bistro in the lobby. If I was traveling for business I could see the benefit of having a nice place to relax within the hotel. We, as a family, enjoyed it too! After all the swimming we had the munchies and The Bistro came in real handy. It was nearing closing time for The Bistro so we got a really good deal on some wings, popcorn shrimp, and cheese pizza. It actually ended up being more food than we could eat. The TV nooks in the lobby area are really neat, too. The kids watched Nick while we waited for the food. We also saw several other people using the areas, too. The staff here were super friendly and seemed to always be available. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The beds were great! Our room had a small pull-out couch, (which I didn't expect when booking so I was pleasantly surprised) and it provided a nice area for my husband and I to sit and talk while the kids played on the beds. One other feature I liked is the curved shower curtain rod; it makes the shower feel even roomier. The rooms also include a small refrigerator, which has almost become a requirement in hotels for us. It's nice to always have a chilled beverage on hand and not have to use the "ice-in-the-sink" trick. We had a great experience with this hotel and I can't wait to stay again!

We really appreciate your feedback and look forward to the next time you and your family come to stay with us. We think our hotel is an amazing place to stay if you are coming in to do some shopping at Opry Mills, to take in a cruise on the General Jackson Showboat, or to come and see the world famous Grand Ole Opry, and we're glad you feel the same way!

First the bad and then the good. We had to change our reservaions by a week and when we did the rates were considerable higher and they would not give us the Senior Rate. This is the first time we have ever been turned down for a senior rate at any motel. The location was close to the things we were doing. The room was very clean, but towels were very thin.We would stay there again but hope they never turn us down on the senior rate again.

We decided to take a quick trip down to Nashville and see the Opryland hotel during Christmas. We decided to stay off the campu as the rates for Opryland are a little too step for my blood seeing you are not in the room that much.
Hotel was very nice and the front desk attendants were always helpful and polite. The beds were super comfy, actually the nicest bed I have slept in away from home in a very long time. My wife wanted to purchase one of them, it was that nice. The only negative I can mention is the indoor pool was too cool, it could stand to be a little warmer especially during winter months.

Shorty74,

Thanks for your great comments and thanks for staying with us! We get many compliments on the comfort of our beds and I have had several guests ask where they can purchase one (you actually can- Marriott has a website!) Sorry about the pool temp- we will get that warmed up for you next time you come and stay with us!

The room was spotlessly clean and roomy. Our room was on a side of the hotel which backed to a school district bus barn. Constant beeping early in the morning while the buses were all backing up and leaving for their rounds.
We had a minor issue with the ice machine not working on our level. No big deal - except for how the clerk handled it. We needed some ice for our little cooler. The clerk was so dismissive as to be rude.
The next morning we brought our disappointment to the attention of the manager. She was delightful, took our concerns seriously and bought our breakfast at the on-site restaurant. She even took our little cooler and personally filled it with ice.
Now THAT is customer service.

Room Tip: ask for a room AWAY from the bus barn.

We stayed here for 2 nights (July 27 and 28, 2012). The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a King room. It was clean and nice. The desk staff told us how to ask for the shuttle to go over to the Gaylord Opyland. They just take your name and let you know when the next shuttle will leave from this hotel to go over there and that you just call them when you are ready to go back. Our room had a little mini fridge, desk and a couch with coffee table. For as much as we were in the room, it was comfortable to come back too. They have Wi-fi too. The pool looked very nice. We didn't have time to use it though because of all the other places that we visited in Nashville. There is a big screen in the main lobby that is a great idea. It's like a laptop screen with the weather, events for the day and attractions. You can tap on anything on the screen and get more information, zoom in on a map, get concert times, etc. It was great! There are ALOT of restaurants close by. It was TOO HOT to walk, so we drove down the street to Shoney's for breakfast each day. They have a cafe/deli type place at the hotel, but seemed kind of pricey for what you can get. It's still nice if you just want something quick...water, coffee, juice, snack, etc. There's a Bob Evans, McDonalds, and a couple others in the same block or two by the hotel. You HAVE to go over to the Gaylord Resort (the shuttle will take you). It is really something to see! They should have their own zip code! It is just HUGE inside. There are places to eat all throughout each section of the hotel as well as shopping places and waterfalls/ fountains everywhere. We walked behind one of the falls! I even bought a couple of nice Christmas presents to put away for later! We even took the River Boat cruise while we were there. YES IT's INSIDE THE HOTEL! They even tell you about the hotel and all the beautiful flowers and trees that are inside. You can spend at least 4-5 hours in there depending on what you decide you want to do or eat in there. If you want to walk even more, the big outlet mall is on the backside of the hotel and all the way across the mall's parking lot, which is BIG. We did, and looked around at the mall shops and had dinner there. We walked back to the Gaylord but called for the shuttle on the way. We waited for pick up about 15 minutes after we got there. We like Marriott and would stay here again. The only thing that I would like for them to change, is to have more plush towels. I thought they were too thin for a Marriott. They were ok though and the room was always fresh and clean each day when we returned. Thank you.
