As for the room, I hate it when any hotel locks down the TV inputs so you can't hook up your own stuff. There needs to be some movement against this. Am I the only one who doesn't want to pay 8 dollars to watch a movie before I go to bed?

We stayed there. The rooms are old, not well taken care of, and definitely NOT worth the money they charge for them. The beds were not comfortable, the rooms were not very cozy. However, it is a beautiful place to walk around and see on the inside and the outside. The spa was priced three times of what you could pay to go elsewhere. The staff was nice, but they didn't always know the answers to questions, and some did not speak English well.

If you have young kids in strollers or you need a wheelchair I would avoid this place. There are too many stairs, too few ramps, and not enough elevators. Too many paths dead end in stairs without an elevator or ramp to be found. There are no activities for kids and no place for them to play. The whole hotel is sealed off in a huge glass canopy that I would call a "bio dome". It is incredibly stuffy and humid with no fresh air. It is probably great for plants but not so great for people.

Pretty atrium and gardens. A tourist attraction but not a hotel. It is too far from the real Nashville. The environment and all services are too controlled. The staff were polite but not overly helpful.

Our room was lovely (Delta section) and seemed to have been recently redone, housekeeping was excellent, noise was not a problem, But many quality complaints from our friends/other meeting attendees who stayed in Magnolia section and since I am only supposed to write about our experience I can't list those things here, I am however encouraging them to send in their experiences. We were genuinely shocked and we felt lucky to be in our section.

Signage is terrible and extremely unclear. It would be helpful to have some staff available (at all hours) to point you in the right direction. Perhaps some specialists should be hired to help them design better signage and maps...and hire staff to help you in "wayfinding".

Food: Convention food was poor to mediocre. Stax hamburgers tasted as though they were bathed in salt solution (2 burgers, 2 drinks=$26). Room Service is quick but I would gladly wait 45" for my pizza to ensure that it was fully cooked.(the cheese was barely melted)

Meeting Rooms/Ballrooms: Poorly controlled temperature, either blasting cold or too warm (I attend numerous conferences and always bring a jacket I just didn't think I would need a wool one in April). No happy medium which makes it very difficult to be comfortable and enjoy the meeting sessions.

Shuttle: Be advised that if 2 or more people are in your party it is less expensive to take a cab from the airport (25$ plus 1$ per extra person) this same trip in the shuttle would be 38$ per person. For 2: Roundtrip cab 50$ plus tip, for shuttle 76$ (38$ each). The hotel will not tell you this.

We were there for a meeting but we always like to sightsee a bit and try local foods/restaurants and the like. If you want a real Nashville cultural experience (Music, Entertainment, Food and Action), visit the hotel for the tourist attraction it is and choose to stay elsewhere. If you are fearful of traveling, don't get out much and want someone to control your travel experience this may be the place for you.

This is my second stay at this resort. It was a disappointment to me that this hotel is doing nothing to recognize economic hard times for clients, but instead sucking money from guests anywhere they can. As a weekly traveler I am very aware of things unnecessary to charge for: (1) self parking is $18 however there is a free lot that is hidden and no one wants to tell guests about (we knew from last time)...it is limited but walk out the lobby, turn right, across the street past where the cabs are, through the valet lot and back by an office building; (2) although it is "sold" as an option, the hotel charges a $15 resort fee that gives you two bottles of water, internet service in room, use of the pool, and a daily newspaper (we thought it an option and had to fight to remove it from charges. Why not add it to the base rate if you are going to charge it? Trying to appear they are keeping rooms under $200 night, but they are not.
The hotel is massive and has lost any sense of personal touch. Callers from the outside must navigate through a complex, put on hold type automated system. Food trays outside room doors are not cleaned up fast and there are many. Remedies to problems are slow and sometimes never come. Our express checkout bill was promised under the door at 4am-5am and still was not there at 6:45am despite a fast order request to get it there (and a promise of 15 minutes max). The rooms are very nice and comfortable, there are safes in them which I like. Linens and bed quality excellent and Plasma televisions. The crowd is filled with redneck mentality, kind of amusement park like and restaurants are average to poor (wasabi's is the best but overpriced). The one thing that is outstanding is Relache Spa - go for a massage with Tyrus. Wow. Just an excellent place and great treatments (we had four between us and all great).

My daugther and her inlaws went down for the first time to stay at TheGaylord Orpyland Hotel ( 7- 1/2 hour drive from Ohio ) on April 23 2009, when they got to the desk to check in they were told that they over booked the rooms by 40 rooms and they did not have a room for them. They put them up in a room at the Marriot Airport. Now anybody knows that the hotel Marriot Airport is not the same The Gaylord Orpyland Hotel is. BAD FOR BUSINESS.

Check in went smooth, but make sure you really listen to where your room is located. Got an inner courtyard room and room was okay, expected more. Features are a KING size bed and a comfortable chair. The hotel provides a good amount of shampoo and soaps etc and they are quality. Room was comfortable and quiet, top floor was warmer but it was easy to adjust the toom temperature. The Gardens are beautiful and you have to walk them. There is a gazebo that would be a great place to get married or re-do your wedding vows. Can't speak of the restaurants as we didn't try them. Go around the holidays to see all the beautiful lights. This is a romantic hotel even if it's large. The rooms could need some updating and hotel employees need to be trained on how to tell guests where there rooms are we saw many people lost wondering around. Overall a good stay somewhat pricey but you know what that is going in,the paking lot seems about a mile away from your room so be prepared for that. We enjoyed it and had Dinner at the Park Cafe in Nashville which was nice. Allie liked it all as well and I KNOW she wants to go back, doesn't she ?
