“Beautiful Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

First the hotel has massive atriums with walking trails among the plants & waterfalls. Nice to have a room which opens over one of the atriums. We were there over New Years Eve so the hotel was overbooked. Luckily we were with a large group and we were pre-checked in so we didn't have to wait in the long reception lines. The rooms are very nice but way over priced. Being new years had something to do with the price issue. The group we were with was there foe a Football Bowl Game so all our transportation was taken care of. Regular shuttle buses to & from downtown Nashville & Bowl Game. Otherwise it is a bit of a drive to downtown Nashville where the parking is not very good. The hotel would be an excellent place for a self contained Conference. There are a number of dining choices. None were outstanding.

We've stayed at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville for the last three years at the same time for a work conference. Last year we saw service and cleanliness had gone downhill, but this year was even worse. I must say the common areas are still very lovely and clean, but the rooms are sadly lacking. When we first checked in we were told all the atrium rooms were booked, by a girl who seemed like she would have rather been elsewhere. After we got in our VERY small room we called back to the front desk and they were able to move us to an atrium room. Although it was so lovely to be able to see and enjoy the waterfall and foliage, we were sadly disappointed by the stains on the comforter, the coffee pot that hadn't been cleaned, and only 3 lumpy pillows on the king size bed .
Parking has gone up to $20 to self park, and $26 for valet. Room service prices are even more astronomical, and the restaurants that ARE open are just as overpriced. $8 for a bowl of oatmeal, seriously? I am hoping that with Marriott taking over this property that it will improve to their standards.
I usually don't complain, especially about things that may be just a one time occurance, but when you're paying top dollar you expect to have top notch service and a top notch room.
Here's hoping things will improve by next year.

Room Tip: Atrium rooms are lovely during the day for relaxing by the waterfall, but at night they get a bit no...

The Oryland Hotel is beautiful. With lush vegetation in the atrium, which is huge. The conservatory area is a very nice touch. Unfortunately, on our recent trip, there were several significant problem areas. #1 do not use the valet parking unless the weather is terrible or the hotel is about empty! The valets are nice but there is no organization to their system. When you call for your car your keys are but in a pile. Someone lays them sort of left to right on the shelf and they supposedly work left to right. In reality, you see the valets choosing the keys they want. The keys also get moved around. The model of the car is on the tag. :( the reason I know all this is it took 25 to 45 minutes to get our car. I had plenty of time to observe. I shouldn't complain too much as one poor man had waited an hour! We self parked after the first day. The food in the restaurant was hit and miss. My daughter enjoyed her filet steak, my husband had the strip and did not. They ordered the Artesan Cheese selection but the formage was not available. The breakfast buffet was very uninspired. The maid left 2 bottles of cleaning solution in our lightly cleaned room. The folks that work there are all very nice. Much needs improvement however.

We stayed here on day 3 of our road trip and decided to live it up a little.
The hotel is beautiful, very well appointed and has a stunning indoor garden/atrium. The service is very good and the room was stunning with a nice balcony looking into the atrium.
The price however is pretty steep and so were the restaurants, theres not a lot going on at night and it is a good trip into Nashville if you want a night out.
I loved the relaxed feel of the place and if i was there on a conference then it would be great.
Overall not the place to stay to explore Nashville but a beautiful if not cheap hotel

At the hotel for a conference and I was very impressed with all aspects of the convention center and hotel. A little pricey but the staff make it worthwhile. My first room had a serious problem, but he staff immediately moved me to a better room, at my convenience, laundered clothes which had been affected and provided a resort credit for my trouble. This was an above and beyond response, and exactly as I would expect from a hotel of this class.

I would return. Expect beauty, good food, and exceptional service.

Our family had a 3-night stay here with several other families for the Music City Bowl in Nashville. Amazing property, but it is HUGE so take time to review the map and get ready to walk. Our rooms were in the Magnolia section which was quiet in the evenings. Not sure I would like to be in one of the areas with a balcony overlooking a common area - may be noisy?? We spent a lot of time just walking through the hotel looking at the incredible Christmas decorations both inside and out. We enjoyed the pool, spa, and fitness center. Most restaurants were too expensive for our crowd but enjoyed burger and pizza places on Delta Island and Fuse sports bar for cheaper alternatives. Opry Mills easy to walk to for additional dining choices if you don't want to drive. We found service was consistenyl great with all staff eager to help. Cons are huge numbers of people at check in times, cost and difficulty of parking, and the fact that this property is not convenient for general Nashville sight seeing. The family New Year's Eve celebration was also a big disappointment and sent us back to our rooms for the midnight toast instead, but overall a good time. Would probably stay downtown next trip for convenience.

Beautiful hotel, with my experience tainted by hidden and overpriced resort and parking fees. All food on site is overpriced. They seem to work at discouraging return customers. Perhaps the new Marriott connection will help them sort these things out to provide a happier guest experience.
