We ate in the Jack Daniels restaurant. It was very noisy, which was ok. Service was okay up until we had to wait 20 minutes for the bill. The food was lousy. I ordered their southern fried chicken which was supposed to be SO GOOD. It was barely warm, the "crispy" coating was soggy and peeled off. Couldn't even begin to eat the coating. My husband ordered the chili which was barely warm also. He usually doesn't complain. We paid the bill and when we got home and received the credit card bill noticed that she had DOUBLED her tip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - despite the hidden costs and "nickel and dime " charges lobbied on just about everything. This property feels like a grandiose Vegas Casino- I kept expecting to hear slot bells ringing. We thoroughly enjoyed the atriums and waterfalls. We enjoyed the good coffee as well - they even gave me a half cup of creamer for the room when I didn't want to use Coffeemate. The late evenings in the Library bar were wonderful times spent though not crowded (which is why we like it) . The staff at Old Hickory steakhouse was fantastic! Beware- place is very pricey but I think well worth it!
The rooms lack a lot, but you aren't in your room much of the time. The convenience of the mens shop was used by 3 of the 5 men in our family for emergency incidentals!
I would definitely search out their other properties to stay there.

Room Tip: go for the extra expense to get atrium facing room

I have been to some incredible hotel/ resorts and the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention center has surpassed them in my estimation. The grounds are immaculate the staff very attentive, room service prompt (were there in under 30 minutes or your meal was free :-) I have nothing bad to say! If you want your monies worth, this is the place to stay. Came with 26 teenagers for the Chess Nationals and did not regret a moment of our stay!!!!

Room Tip: Try the Delta section-closest to convention ctr.

That's all I could say when we stepped into the place... WOW. The hotel is bigger than the town we live in, and in fact did sort of feel like an indoor city. It's absolutely gorgeous!

We took advantage of the birthday stay one night, get one night free special, otherwise we probably would have stayed elsewhere so as to not break the bank! Even with the special, by the time we paid resort fees and parking, it was almost $300! A nice splurge, but not sure the room itself was worth that. You're definitely paying for the name, the scenery and the attraction.

The bed was very clean and comfortable, but was lacking on blankets. The shower was in need of a good grout cleaning. And we did notice that around the hotel was a decent amount of dust/dirt/grime and especially things like handprints and dust on the street lights and railings in the delta areas. I'm sure it's hard to keep that much area clean, but it did take away from the area to see the grime.

Be prepared for lots of groups of teenagers in town with their high school band, chess club, etc., and families with kids. We were in Nashville for a "just us" getaway without kids, so I was a little put off by this. With the price of the place, I wasn't expecting it, but it is a convention center.

The dining selections were lacking. We're not foodies by any means, so we found no appeal in most of the dining selections. We ate outside the hotel for two meals a day and then had a small meal in the hotel late in the evening both nights. The first night we split a burger and fries from Stax, which was very tasty although a little greasy. The cost for that was less than $12. The second night we had pizza from the little by-the-slice place next to Stax and were a little disappointed. The breadsticks tasted raw and the pizza was bordering on cold, and was greasy and tasteless. It looked and smelled better than it actually was. But it was nice to sit in the fountain area to eat both nights. Some more "fast food" options as well as maybe another ice cream shop would be great... Haagen Daas was so busy both nights we didn't even bother standing in line.

Definitely do the boat ride! It seemed a little short & overpriced for no longer than it is, and they get you for a $20 souvenir photo, but it was a very enjoyable ride. Go when it's getting dark and the lights are coming on!

Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely stay again if I found another good promotion like this one.

Reading the reviews, the one thing that kept popping up was how people felt the dining choices were too expensive. Well guess what - this isn't Shoney's or some other generic chain!! Instead of cheap tin utensils, you have quality silverware. Instead of paper napkins, you have cloth. Instead of a vinyl booth or wobbly table, you eat dinner at a proper table surrounded by flowers, trees, water features and beautiful lighting. Of COURSE that's going to cost more. If price is that important to you, then choose a cheaper place to stay. Simple.

Room Tip: A room with an inside balcony is worth it!

I absolutely loved all of the buildings, each with amazing indoor landscaping and places to eat/drink. Rooms facing the atriums have double doors opening onto indoor balconies with all the feel of bringing the "outdoors" in but without any bugs. There's nothing like that trapped feeling you sometimes get in a hotel. The Cascade section has a lovely waterfall but if I were to return, I'd choose the quieter but lush Garden building. (Great sound insulation though - if I closed the doors, I didn't hear it.) The third, Delta section, is the more active, with shopping and the "river". All of these connect so that you have close access to everything within a few minutes regardless of which area you're in. Why not rate it Excellent? The lack of reasonably priced food options. (Think DisneyWorld where pancakes for your kids can cost the same as fast food for a family of 4.) If planning to stay more than a day, bring some snacks, yogurt, breakfast bars, fruit or drinks for the fridge in your room to take the pressure off, not only saving money but also having available the types of foods you'd like. It's not worth the hassle of leaving the complex and driving somewhere to get a sandwhich, just plan ahead. Enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants, ranging from overpriced serve yourself pizza where you can watch and listen to the fountain water show to one of several good but expensive full service choices. I was very pleased to find free wireless access throughout the complex, a full fitness center, and in-room thermostat controls. If you are traveling with children, as always, keep them close - it's large and makes sense for adults but woul be extremely easy for them to get lost.

Room Tip: Request atrium facing w/balcony (2nd floor +)
