Melba Lodge

We stayed here for our anniversary and we found the location to be great, it was close by to local eaterys and shops (abouta 10 minute walk) and also we were able to be picked up by a bus to go on the Yarra Valley Winery Tour which also dropped us back off there.

The pool table and darts board is great and there is ample parking.

Only issue I would say would be other people staying there can be quite loud and you are very close in your rooms to them.

We've stayed at Melba only one night. We're very welcomed when we arrived in the evening. The room was small, but very comfortable, with an old world decoration, heating, TV and toiletries in the bathroom, which ha da good size and a good shower, although adjusting water temperature was a bit tricky.
One thing we didn't like very much is that it was possible to hear our neighbors in their room, but we had a quiet night.
Also, we used the living room with fireplace to drink some wine and have some cheese and it was excellent having this space.
Finally, breakfast was good, with both cold and cooked options.
It's a comfortable and cozy place in Yarra Glen, we had a pleasant stay.

It was a clean, comfortable and old worldly place to stay. We enjoyed the large house and pool table room was a great social area to play and have a wine in the cool. We stayed in the cottage so we could put the kids in the lounge area and it was good. It was walking distance to Yarra Glen. We did not realise kitchens stopped cooking by 8.30pm so we were unable to enjoy the hotel or other restaurants. However the Chinese Restaurant in town was great and we enjoyed eating there.

Dave warmly greetly us when we arrived early and had our room ready. He also sorted a wine tour for us quickly. Very conveniently located with cosy rooms for a good price. If you are after warm hospitality in a quiet place then this is the place for you.

we seemed to be the only people staying the night we were there. the room was tiny. we are not big people which is just as well. we asked for a quiet room, not a tiny room.
i think it would have been better to have made the room a single, rather than squeeze a queen bed in.
we were hard-pressed to unpack, so just shuffled around our bags and hoped there would not be a trip in the night with the inevitable toilet stop.
our host was affable but unable to be roused after dark, so any assistance with the entertainment system was not available.

Room Tip: ask for a LARGE quiet room

Thank you for your feedback. The Queen rooms are a great value option and are not large but most guests find them more than comfortable. We have larger rooms, The Kings and particularly the Penthouse & Cottage offer plenty of space. We are normally contactable all hours by phone if we are not at the Lodge, my apologies for not giving you these details. Sadly the night you stayed our DVD player just died, so it has been replaced with a new one. The operation of the system is simple ,especially now everything is working! I apologize for not knowing it was broken, I now check these things daily.

This is the second time I have stayed at Melba Lodge and the rooms are cosy and in keeping with the atmosphere of the Lodge. The bed was huge and very comfy with crisp, clean linen. The bathroom, although not large, had a corner spa with the shower overhead. However, the walls of the rooms are paper thin and you can hear just about everything. I agree with other reviewer that there needs to be some sort of sensor lighting from the carpark at the back to the back door. The gardens are beautiful, the service was great. Would love to stay again.

This is a small family owned property with a most welcoming atmosphere. The hostess was not available to cook on the morning we were there but her husband did his best to accommodate our desire for something not normally served in Australia. Just a delightful man. The rooms are small, very tidy, and very clean. We would gladly go back. :)

Room Tip: These people will make you feel like family.
