If you looking for a nice meal for a couple, a group of friends or a family, this place suits all types. It's the best value for money in Woodend.

I would like to see the menu change, however, they do have a special's menu that changes every so often.

I would highly recommend the Salt and Pepper Squid or the Garlic Prawns. Both are DELICIOUS!!

Part of a table of 6 ladies, ordered caeser salad ..."no egg please" out came the salad, with an egg on top... off she went no time to discuss , then where is the bacon.... spoke to the waitress and she was quite unaffected, didn't give a rats, thought there might have been some offer of a reduced price or even a dessert... nothing... not at all happy the service was garbage. Live local and expect that they would like to keep the customers not lose them..... try somewhere else...

Not the most welcoming staff! Upon presenting for early lunch on a Wednesday for a group of 4 adults and 5 older aged children, told they were fully booked. Agreed to sit at 'bar' type table/bench which was fine, but noticed the rest of the place stayed relatively empty for the entirety of our stay?!!!! Food was of average quality all round - some salt and pepper on the table may have helped with the lack of taste complaints around the table! Ordered a wine and was then given something entirely different - no apologies, just don't have the one you asked for!!! Um, how about telling me instead of just giving me something they hoped would pass as the same?!!! This is touted as a wine bar?!!! Anyway, I may have not complained at all had I realized that the drinks were actually complimentary with the meals! Definitely a nice bonus, so lovely if they have wine to your taste! Expected more from the rave reviews, but meals were very reasonably priced even if not fabulous to the palate, and drinks were free all round! Friendly country charm was sadly amiss!

Looked for a place where two families could meet - one from Bendigo the other Melbourne - a half way point.
This gem was seen on the Internet and no thought was given in making a reservation for a Saturday lunch. Luckily we arrived early because by 12:30 the place was filling up. Wonderful toasty warm fire.
Wonderful country fare at a very reasonable cost.
Staff were kept busy, but still gave good service.
A return visit or visits is definitely on our agenda.
