“Grape escape”
Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

The ownership of this establishment is common with the Pizzini winery and it's a good option for lunch after doing the rounds of the King Valley wineries. The location is very pretty and in Summer the garden is shady and cool.ask for a recommendation from the menu. My partner did and enjoyed the best ceasar salad in captivity.

“Great Food and a Lovely Hotel in the King Valley”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We enjoyed a shared tasting plate of pate, cheese, cold meats and tasty bits. Would probably be the best we have ever been served. Great service and a charming location. Do not miss this place for lunch if doing a wine tour of the King Valley area.

“Not just another pub”
Reviewed December 26, 2012 via mobile

Drove from Echuca not knowing what we would find to eat in this neck of the woods. Neither of us have been to King Valley before biput if the food at Mountain View is anything to go by this place is a gem! We shared the smoked eggplant and asparagus pizza along with the ceasar salad. Two simple dishes, easy to get wrong, that were absolutely delicious. Tried a glass of the Lana presecco which was yummy. Wanted to order the black mussel dish but it sold out a lunchtime! Definitely recommend this place as an introduction to King Valley. Can't wait to experience the wineries and local produce.

Definitely recommend this place

“Great food, a surprise find in the King Valley.”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We ate here during the King Valley Weekend Fit for a King festival with some friends. It was a busy Saturday night and that may explain why they forgot our entree of cured meats, pate and pickled vegetables to share but that didn't matter as the main courses were exceptional! Two of our group had the chicken galantine which was very tasty and perfectly cooked, the others, one had the cassoulet which also was very nice although it need a little more salt to bring out the flavour and the last of our group had the seafood bouillabaisse, again no complaints.

The front of house manager, Fazool, apologised for the forgotten entree and offered complimentary deserts, they were all delicious.

To have such great food in such an out of the way place is such a surprise, it could be compared to the best of any Melbourne restaurant.

Go and explore the beautiful King Valley, enjoy the wines and take time to have lunch or dinner at the Mountain View Hotel, you will be surprised as indeed we were.

“Good country pub, but the steak!”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

Had lunch at the Whitfield Hotel.Great setting & beaut beer garden. Most of the food was fine, but the steak.... It was under cooked & tough. I did not complain , but at end of the meal the waiter asked if everything was o.k..I replied that the steak was not great for the price. He said he would tell the chef.-------No reply
Later when my wife was getting a drink from the bar she was told that there was nothing wrong with the steak..........
Perhap they did not have to eat it.!!!!
All in all a great spot slightly spoiled by a poor steak & a silly remark.
