“Worth the price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

We stayed here for two nights on our first getaway as a couple. Very romantic stay, bed was comfy and the view was great. Breakfast downstairs was brilliant also, it was lovely relaxing there while looking at the morning sun hitting the water of the bay. One point for improvement; housekeeping turned up at our room at 9.40 on our morning of checkout, when checkout was 10.00am. We were almost ready to leave the room, but having the maid arrive intending to clean made us feel rushed even though we had every right to remain in the room for another 20 minutes. Not sure if this is standard procedure or just a one off.

Room Tip: Splash out on the best room you can afford, you won't regret it.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our establishment.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your first romantic getaway as a couple in our Heritage Hotel. We pride ourselves on providing great food in a relaxing environment for all our guests.

I would like to apologise on behalf of the Hotel, that you felt rushed into leaving your room at the end of your stay. It is not typical that Housekeeping enter the room prior to our guests departure.

We would take great pleasure in welcoming you back to Hotel Sorrento for any future romantic getaway.

Kind Regards,

Hotel Sorrento Management

Recently stayed at Hotel Sorrento for a conference. Can't really comment on the room too much (As I was hardly there) other to say that it was adequate enough. Really impressed with the pub food. Try the steak, it was delicious. What I was really impressed with was the service and the quality and quantity of food provided at lunch and breakfast. Lunch was a feast and breakfast was as good as any 5 star breakfast buffet. If you're looking to have a work conference for 20-30 people, this is a terrific option.

Pleasant surprise to see the restaurant and bar have been refurbished. They have mixed the old and new in perfectly. Staff were very polite and food service efficient. Parma chicken was perfect although Kids chicken nuggets were processed which most pubs are but I think is lazy these days.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel Restaurant. We are pleased that you enjoyed dining in our recently refurbished restaurant and bar. The team at Hotel Sorrento work hard to provide warm, friendly and professional service. We have passed on to the kitchen staff, your feedback regarding the Chicken Parma and childrens nuggets.

Stayed one night on $250 on a thurs which included brekky and two main dinner meals with two house wine. Room 33 was clean and spacious, had a view of the harbour, single person spa, gas fire, comfy couch and tv/DVD. Free wifi. Bed was very comfortable. Basic kitchen. Check in was easy and staff helpful and polite. Dinners at the bistro were excellent. We both had the eye fillet steak which came with a tasty potato bake. Steak was as ordered and tender. House wine was was a decent quality. Breakfast was included with cont and cooked option and came out quickly. The mushrooms and tomato needed a bit longer on the grill but otherwise ok. The Sorrento area is beautiful with lots of walks and things to see. Hotel is heritage, very clean and I consider it generally better than most of the larger hotel chains in what it offers it's guests. Would happily stay again. Recommend for a nice weekend away. Didn't have pool etc but that's all it lacked.

Located in the heart of Victoria's famous Mornington Peninsula and an easy walk to the sea shore, the charming village of Sorrento has lots of restaurants and interesting shops. The traditional old Hotel, circa late 1800's, has been totally renovated and very modern motel units added which affords the traveller the best of both worlds; old world charm and modern conveniences with all the "mod-cons". The Hotel is in easy driving distance to many of the famous wineries of the region as well as about a 15 minute drive to about a dozen of the best golf courses in Australia.
The Sorrento Hotel's Restaurant provides very good breakfast, lunch and dinner and because it is a self-order facility with table service your meal arrives very quickly.
The Hotel has various types of accommodation which would suit almost every requirement from intimate weekends to family style suites.
The town of Sorrento has a wide variety of eateries ranging from inexpensive but good Pizza and Bistro Restaurants but also has some very nice and tasty more elegant restaurants for lunch and dinner.

Room Tip: The rooms are modern, bright and airy. The variety of styles of rooms would suit almost every requir...

We stayed here on Australia day weekend. We stayed in "The Heritage Suite" and paid $280 a night including breakfast.

The room was great, the bed comfortable, the AC was efficient, the water pressure was good, the balcony was huge, a veranda really and the view from it was stunning. I only wish they'd had a parasol on it as any sane person don't sit for long in the Australian sun. However it was just gorgeous to sit on it and enjoy the view especially grabbing a few beers from the fridge which as a bonus were normal prices!

The breakfast was great, there were yoghurt, cereal and bread but I was especially fond of the huge but light and fluffy omelet, but it could have done with some quality fruit-juice instead of the cheap concentrate and the coffee was terrible and you had to pay extra to get a cup of decent coffee. The pub was lovely and the food looked good (although we didn't eat there).

One warning about these rooms (6-8) is that they are immediately above the pub. If you are a person that goes to bed early - you might struggle to sleep, especially in summer when the outside areas are packed. However it didn't bother us as we were out until late ourselves.

The service was perfect and friendly.

I would stay there again, it really felt like a treat.
