“A disappointing stay”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

We stayed one night here as a base to explore the Peninsula.

The location is quiet as it is in the Rosebud county golf club however this means that if you don't want to eat at the club restaurant you need to drive to find somewhere.

We stayed in a two bed room which appeared as though it had not been cleaned recently. There were a lot of cobwebs and spiders around the room.

We were disappointed by the hotel room as you had to go through the main bedroom/living space/kitchenette to get to the bathroom which limited privacy in the room.

The reception staff seemed friendly but I expected much better overall for the price we paid ($285 for the night).

Set in the middle of a golf course, so no road noise etc. The room was spacious and clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Split syestem air-con is very effective. DVD players available from reception at no cost, but there are a limited number so if you want one, ask for it when you check in. Short drive to shops and beach. Good value.

We stayed one night, receptionist was very nice and pleasant. Rooms were huge and the spa in the corner of the room was a real treat after spending all day out horse riding. Rooms are very clean and quite, beds are king size and provide a good night sleep. Would recommend to all golfers , but anyone looking for a hotel closer to attractions should look closer to the town centre area.

We managed to get discounted rates online and this meant we got a lot of room for our money!
It's actually a motel, inside a golf course but very spacious, clean and massive rooms with a terrace outside.

The location being roughly in the middle of the Mornington Peninsula means it's within easy access of most of the areas you might want to visit - Cape Schank, Sorrento, Nepean point, Rye, not to mention any stretch of beach!

The Fairways Resort is part of the Rosebud Country Club, off Boneo Road Rosebud. We have stayed here twice now on holidays and will do so again. It seems possible to obtain a reasonable deal or upgrade during the midweek winter months when we are in the area. I'd imagine rates could be higher on weekends and in summer which could make it a little expensive at those times (we paid $155pn for an executive room, without spa)

The rooms are large and facilities modern. Our room had a king bed and single bed. Not a lot to write about as the rooms are quiet and comfortable. I can't recall the air-conditioner being too noisy. In July, it was on all night too! The bathroom is quite large and well lit. There was a small courtyard at the back of the room which would give kids somewhere to play.

The only adverse comments I would make is the 1st time we stayed here we did order the continental breakfast hamper but the price tag for 3 for just cereal and bread sent us into Rosebud the next morning where any number of coffee shops are available at more reasonable prices. Of course this is a personal choice of a family on a budget. We also asked for fresh milk for tea and coffee and had to pay $2.50 for a 300ml container - that is over $8 per litre!!! Smallish matters but they are the ones your remember.

It is only a short stroll to the nearby Golf Club bistro that is more than reasonable for an evening meal. Even coffee there in the afternoon overlooking the golf course is a pleasant way to pass time!

The motel has modern, well appointed and clean rooms. It is reasonably close to shops but not close enough to walk. Th only issues we had was we needed to remove fine cobwebs in most of the ceiling corners and the air conditioner was so noisy each time it kicked in. It was too cold to be without it but a pain in the butt overnight trying to sleep with it.

I've stayed at Fairways for close to three weeks on separate trips in late 2008 and in October of 2009. The rooms are spacious and clean. I had a relaxing stay this October and was able to play golf at Moonah Links, The Dunes, St. Andrews Beach, and The National Golf Club. All are not much more than a ten minute drive. Rosebud Country Club, adjacent to Fairways is a quality parkland style course for those less interested in links type golf with massive bunkering at the other nearby layouts.

There is convenient shopping nearby for items you can store in the refigerator provided and a number of good restaurants within a 15 minute drive. Mornington is more like 20 minutes away and Portsea and Sorrento are about the same driving time. Fairways is quiet and it seems well equipped to handle those on golf outings. They can provide good information about nearby courses.

In my opinion, Mornington Peninsula is one of the best golf destinations anywhere and when you consider other factors such as cost per round on courses like the ones mentioned above, it is a golf destination I have visited the past three years and intend to visit over and over.

And when I travel there, Fairways will be my first choice for a place to stay.
