Owner description: We want everyone who visits to have a moment out of the ordinary. This philosophy extends to everything we do. A warm welcome. Finely crafted wine. Food that feeds the senses and the soul. Our chef's hat rated restaurant. A beautiful and bountiful property growing grapes, olives, fresh produce. A diverse and engaging setting for sculpture. We hope you love our little piece of paradise as much as we do.

Next to the restaurant is an outdoor seating area that features pizza made in a brick oven. It's called the Piazza Cafe. There is a lovely view of the vineyards, and you can also sample their wines at the tasting area. Something different when we were there was an outdoor sculpture display spread along a nice walk through the vines. It's a nice way to spend a little time and enjoy this unique area of Victoria. I highly recommend a visit to the area and a stop at Montalto. We went with our teenage kids who usually roll their eyes when we make a stop at a winery, but even they had a good time looking at the sculptures.

We dined at Montalto on a Saturday night and whilst the decor was nice enough I think I would have preferred daytime dining so we could have enjoyed the views.
Our meal was delicious, seared scallops for entree and the snapper for main, followed by an exquisite butterscotch pudding.
Service was excellent, prompt and helpful with suggestions by a delightful waitress.
The meal was a little on the pricey side and it was quite a precarious hike on a rainy night, including unsealed road, but if you are wanting good food and excellent service you can't go wrong here.

We are quite an easy lot to please so Montalto Restaurant immediately caught our heart. We booked in for dinner on a Saturday night to celebrate, and as soon as we arrived at the building, it was quite an architectural piece. The entry door was huge and heavy with a big handle you can't miss.
Upon seated, we chose our wine. All the Pinot Noir here were amazing. We had the smoked trout as the entree. He ordered tenderloin and I ordered the duck for mains. As for dessert, we had the souffle. Ahh.. one word about these food - S U B L I M E. All of them melted in my mouth, the concoction of flavours you can taste and truly enjoy.
All in all, a very fine venue for celebration. If I must pick one bit of the evening that was a little bizarre, I must say that the waiter remembered my latte whilst forgetting my +1's hot chocolate - apparently the best they could make.

This was the last of our "nosh stops" on our weekend on the Mornington peninsula, with another couple.
We got there at around 11.30 on the Sunday, thankfully, as by midday it was completely packed.
We wandered around the gardens and grounds, where they grow a little of the produce they serve, as it was a sunny day and it was a great way to raise an appetite.

We ended up having several of their pizzas, a cheese platter and a bottle of their pinot noir.
The staff that took our order and served our food were all cheery and very helpful.
The pizzas and cheeses were delicious and the pinot noir was a perfect accompaniment.
A great place with beautiful views for a Sunday lunch and great value as well.
