Had a birthday lunch here for 12 of us, including 2 children. The 2 children were well and truly looked after with their own beautifully presented child's plate of the food we were eating. The food here is sublime. I have eaten at many excellent restaurants, but this one is right up there.i had the scallops with white bait, calamari and a delicious almost caramelised sauce, my partner had jamon with the most delicious cheesy pancake and white peaches. For main we both had the duck, which was a perfect match with the Kooyong Pinot. Dessert was also exceptional with 3 to chooses from. We were all so full that we could not eat the birthday cake we bought, so the staff cut of up and put it in to 8 smaller boxes to take home. The service was excellent. Could not fault it. Although we did have to ask to have our glasses refilled once. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The architecture of the building is amazing, and the view of western port amazing. I do wonder why it is called port Phillip estate when it overlooks western port bay. Mmmmm Western Port Estate. I had the most lovely day here, and they more than coped with our 7 & 5 year old boys
Well done port Phillip. Exceptional

Had a family celebration today for my sisters 50th birthday and couldn't have been more impressed. From the magnificent views of Westernport Bay to the modern, stylish cellar door and dining room the setting could not have been more perfect. Service was terrific in the restaurant, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable wait staff saw to all our needs. Food was first rate, the entree of Jarmon, peaches and a cheddar pancakey thing was the highlight, although the smokey potato served with the fish of the day was truly delicious. All in all you could not have asked for a better day.

“We loved it!”

Enjoyed a very tasty and well presented lunch here with my husband and adult son. I couldn't say that the staff were lazy at all, we found them to be most attentive and helpful with menu choices and our table was cleared appropriately. The sommelier was particularly knowledgeable and helpful with her recommendations and we were very happy with the superb bottle of French pinot that we chose. The setting and view from the restaurant was spectacular, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Food was fresh, tasty and very well presented, a cut above, I don't see how anyone could be disappointed.

“A nice dinner, but could be better.”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

As locals and foodies we like to try all our restaurants on a regular basis. PPE has always polarized our opinions as we always leave with lots of positives but still too many negatives.
The building and site is simply spectacular, the best on the Peninsula. The wineries list of its own wines are varied and lovely and the restaurant wine list is excellent. We find the food to be beautifully presented with many local ingredients but never too inspiring and quite basic at times. I think the kitchen needs to go for it a bit and go for the WOW factor, even if some diners dont like it. The real downside is the service. It has always been this way and takes this restaurant out of the top 5 on the peninsula in my opinion. Plates staying on the table for ages, glasses empty for too long and just a general lack of laziness, maybe due to the summer season of hiring locals, i'm not sure. the top restaurants have kept a continuous staff base and you get to know them like good friends, not here.

We recommend PPE for a lunch or dinner but hope in the future that something can be done about the faults that we have found consistant over the last 4 visits here.
