Description: The Circa 1902 restaurant and wine bar is located within the beautiful building that was formally, The Queenscliff Inn, on the main St. The Hotel provides refurbished accommodation, with freshly laid carpet and TV's in each room as well. The business is owned and operated by Chris Dinneen and Sally Denahy who certainly know how to provide a delicious, welcoming and friendly dining experience! The wine bar offers occasional live music and an ambiente experience. The owners pride themselves on first impressions, lasting memories. The menu features fresh local seafood as well as home-style cooking that are inspired by the beautiful flavours found along the Mediterranean. The restaurant also offers an all day TAPAS menu. The menu is always changing and developing. Specialty nights are also on offer from a taste of India to Paella. The extensive wine and beer list highlights some of what the local region has to offer. The restaurant is open Tuesday- Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bookings recommended on the weekends.

“Coffee and dessert after 8 pm? good luck”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

Queenscliff closes at 5pm! be warned. The Couta Boat, however, is an great place have a coffee and dessert. We had lovely coffee and shared a Lemon Curd tart with Italian Meringue served with basil ice cream. I must say that it was closse to perfection! The pie crust was crunchy but not hard, the curd was creamy and tangy and the ice cream was FAN-bloody-TASTIC!

“Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

We decided to have lunch here on the basis that it was next to the tourist information office, and therefore I wouldn't have to move the car from where it was already parked. Turned out to be a pretty good choice, although slightly on the expensive side.

A garlic and cheese focaccia was nice, although not especially garlicy. My beer battered fish and chips with a garden salad were nicely done, although the fish wasn't particularly large. My partners garden salad was similarly nice. My daughter had the stuffed chicken with (amongst other things) roasted beetroot, which was again tasty, but not so large given the price (a bit over $30, from memory).

Overall, around $80 for three people, with two soft drinks and a juice - a bit pricey for my mind, BUT the food was well done. Service was good.

The roasted cherry tomato tartlet with mustard base in home made short pastry, excellent and one if the best around.

“Saturday Night”

Risotto and Brulee were very good but the Seafood stew was watery and more like soup than stew.Too many mussels and not enough seafood. The service was also a little slow.

“Lovely spot for lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

We popped down to Queenscliff for lunch a couple of Sundays ago and decided to visit this restaurant for lunch.

We found the staff to be really friendly, the atmosphere was warm and inviting.

The menu had a very wide variety and we both struggled to choose our meals.

I settled on a dish for the specials menu, a scallop pie, it was a great choice and was extremely tasty.

We enjoyed a couple of glasses or wine and finished off the meal with a nice coffee.

We did not have dessert, but there were a few nice ones to choose from.

We will certainly return and would highly recommend to others.
