Staying at the Vue Grand Hotel in Queenscliff was like a stroll down yesteryears lane - not only because I used to live and work there in my 20's, but because the place simply has got that sort of feel...

Stepping through the front doors, was like stepping behind the vail of time... Of course the hotel offered modern conveniences (minus the lift), but while everything holds the taste of yesteryear, our room overlooked the main street of Queenslciff and offered views out over the ocean and where the ferry comes and goes... modernised with a huge freestanding bathtub and massive double shower, it was slightly juxaposition, but just right for us...

We ate ample at the Queenscliff Inn (as we missed the fact that the Vue Grand's dining room is closed on Sundays) across the road (including great local wines) and really enjoyed the timeless feel of Queenslciff itself reflected in the room of old time architecture blended with the modern luxuries...

Definately a 3 out of 5 pillows - going by my personal rating system.

Do not be fooled into thinking this is a 4.5 star hotel. we stayed for 3 nights and ended up leaving early (which management would not refund) due to our room being so small. Walls and decor are very old and the bathroom was smelly, old and had creaking pipes. We had no access to Internet and when we complained, management did nothing to fix the problem. Our room was so small there was hardly walking space or any ventilation. We paid a lot of money for 3 nights and felt like we were staying at an old, run down pub..rather than a luxurious hotel. We also went out for the day and came back at 4pm to find our room hadn't even been cleaned. Terrible service, and un- professional staff. I do not recommend this hotel. Plenty of other nice places to stay in queens cliff. Very, very disappointed.

This is a beautiful old hotel. We booked a standard room for our one night stay but on arrival we were upgraded to a spa suite which was beautiful, modern and so cosy. The room was very spacious with a lovely bathroom, a very comfortable king size bed and a spa. The price included a full buffet breakfast which was served in the gorgeous dining room. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. Staff were friendly. This would be great place to stay for a weekend.

We stayed for the night after attending the Faulty Towers show & dinner. We arrived to find our room not only looking great but very clean and well stocked. We were in room 12 and could not have asked for better. Next time we may move up a floor or two but we just could not knock anything about the entire experience. The room, show & dinner were one of the best nights out we have had for awhile. The breakfast the next morning was hot, fresh and well presented. Our compliments to the chef for both meals. We will be highly recommending your venue to family and friends. I have already suggested the Faulty Towers show for our mid year dinner at work for next year. Also, congratulations on winning the Golden Plate award for 2011, very well deserved.

We stayed here on a Saturday night. We had room 13. When we arrived back at our room at 10pm from a night out, the noise from a wedding in the function room was overwhelming. I rang front desk and was advised that the wedding was finishing at midnight! Also told that it was a condition of my booking to check with the hotel to see if any there was any functions book for the evening! A complete disregard for for their guests comfort. Stay somewhere else if you can.

This is a letter I sent to managment at Vue Grand in Queenscliff.........

I am writing to pass on a massive THANK YOU for the wonderful service and food we enjoyed on Friday/Saturday.

We had been regular visitors to celebrate our wedding anniversary/honeymoon, but had not been back to the Vue Grand for quite a while after we felt it was a little 'off' 5 or 6 years ago.

It does hold very happy memories so we gave it another chance on the back of the email promotion.

And we were more than pleasantly surprised, it was terrific!!! - Caleb and Michelle were tops and the food was absolutely outstanding, we have been raving about the 'Tasting menu' and the wines.

And also the Champagne in the fridge was a lovely touch and started our 16th Anniversary in fine style - much appreciated.

Room 38 is a cracker!!!.... but looking forward to a revisit into one of the tower suites next time.

Thanks again, it is certainly back on the radar and I look forward to watching the twitter feed after some fun in the dining room - have got plenty of feedback on that!!

Please pass on our thanks to all involved!!

Cheers

IC

Room Tip: Go for a corner room if you can't get a tower suite - a little bit bigger

We stayed for one night and booked online via a discount website.
The building is beautiful, along with most of the buildings in Queenscliff!
It was a very traditional styled hotel, with very detailed features and high ceilings and was well maintained.
We stayed in a Spa Room, which had a King Size bed and ensuite with a corner spa and seperate shower. The room also included complimentary pay tv, including sport and movie channels. The room was clean and comfortable, however the walls seemed pretty thin as we could clearly hear the people in the next room, or they were just really loud talkers!
We paid $179 for the room, compared to the full rate of $305 a night. For what we paid, we were happy with the room and included cooked breakfast the next morning.
The location was very central, with a short walk to shops/pubs, the beautiful pier and very close to the Ferry.
Overall, very happy with the service we received and thoroughly enjoyed the rustic charm of the hotel itself. Would recommend and stay again.
