Rubys Queenscliff
Ranked #3 of 9 Queenscliff B&B and Inns

My wife and I were looking for somewhere nice to stay in the Queenscliff area and stumbled on Ruby’s. Great location. Host Noelle was very welcoming, and as we needed 3 nights she put us up for 1 night in the lower apartment then moved us upstairs to the larger apartment for the next 2 nights when it became available.
Both were excellent, and happy to recommend. (Understand she has another place called Ruby Red on the other side of town - we were a little confused at first).
Breakfast is not included although all facilities are there - we went to Cafe Gusto one morning and it was pretty good.
Queenscliff is an absolutely fabulous base to explore the Bellarine Peninsula and is the ferry terminal to go across to the Mornington Peninsula on the other side of Port Phillip Bay. It has lots of attractions in summer, and is a good place to start a trek along the Great Ocean Road.
However, in winter it is fairly quiet, and a number of restaurants and shops are closed in the early part of the week so we missed out on most of our initial choices, including 360Q and Oakdene winery - out of town. One we would definitely recommend was the Couta Boat Cafe, which seemed to be the only place that was genuinely open 7 nights, although others claimed to be. For example, there is a reasonable Chinese at the lower end of the main street where after we had walked down we found the ‘Open 7 days’ sign we had noted from the car had a small addition - “Closed Mondays”. We went back on Tuesday and it was pretty good.

Room Tip: The upstairs room is much larger and has reasonable views

Ruby's was fantastic! It was the first time I have ever booked accommodation online that is privately owned, so I was nervous to begin with, but I would now recommend Ruby's to everyone. I stayed in the Beachside apartment which was cosy, extremely clean, and beautifully decorated in a modern style. The best attributes was the location, the price (Noelle gave me a very decent deal), but best of all, Noelle was very warm and welcoming- without being over the top.
I will be back at Ruby's for sure.

We stayed in the beachside apartment, and it was very quaint. It was cosy, yet very spacious. Facilities were great, bed was comfy, and unfortunately we only got to meet the host just as we were leaving. She seemed absolutely lovely though!

The location of it is great, just a 5min walk from the Fort, and main street and beach.

I stayed for 2 nights in the beachside apartment and had the most wonderful experience. It is located right around the corner from the main strip of shops and the beach! The room was spotless and had great facilities and the service was perfect. Would highly recommend!

After calling almost every B & B in Queenscliffe, only to be told I had to book 2 nights, we were at our wits end! Then we stumbled on Rubys. Noelle accepts 1 night reservations and because we booked the day before, we also scored a nice discount!

We loved Rubys Cape Cod Architecture and the upstairs Deluxe Suite has lovely polished floor boards, a cozy gas fireplace, cascading ceilings and lots of light. There's plenty of room with three sitting areas and a large open bedroom.

The only gripe I had was the kitchenette could use a workbench and a sink. However, it has a microwave, and a small bar fridge, a toaster, kettle and 2 burner hotplate. So more than adequate to make a breakfast, or in our case, reheat our mexican feast for dinner.

The location is central to the restaurants and shops and a 15 minute stroll to the harbour.

I'd definitely stay at Rubys again.

I stayed overnight with my 2 grandchildren at Ruby;s Red, I found the location fantastic and the appartment 2 was great for us. Easy walking distance to the town centre, and the appt was lovely and clean. I would definately stay again, thanks Noelle.

Fortunately for us Ruby Red in Hobson St was available. It was a bit of a gamble because although we knew Noelle, we were unfamiliar with the Swan Bay end of Hobson St. and the B&B she had there. We need not have had any worries, Noelle was the perfect host as ever. Realising that we were staying for 5 nights, Noelle managed to arrange our accommodation so that we had full kitchen facilities for as long as possible. Over the stay we spent time in Ruby Red appts 1 and 2, and both were right up to standard. The house is only a few hundred meters from the tourist train line and Swan Bay and walking distance to the Marine Centre and town centre. The clear glass bathroom sink in appt. 1 is something that takes your breath away at first!
