We had lunch here: i was not that much impressed by the menu, and food is just above the fast-food average, service is limited (they only bring your orders and clean tables but you have to order and pay at the counter). Location is great, you overlook the bay and the jetty: beautiful colors.

I have been to this venue many times. In fact, for a group of friends this is an annual pilgrimage which we take on December 28th. I believe today will be our last visit.

The food was average ( chips served with 2 meals were very cold) the service poor - we needed to ask twice for a finger bowls and shell bowl for the prawn platter. The jugs of Pimms punch were reasonably priced.

The view remains the reason to come. But the pub does not hold a monopoly on this, and next year we will try another venue.

The " portsea pub" has grown tired, and needs to step up to the mark. Stop trading on your reputation, and make it a pleasant experience. We don't mind paying "portsea" prices if the experience warrants the outlay

We've been to the Portsea Hotel on previous visits to the Mornington Peninsula and it always delivers! Our son's inlaws brought us in 2005, we took the family when we were over from Scotland 2 years ago and this year came with our Australian family to enjoy the seafood platter (beware it's big, you need to share)and again after we'd done the Point Nepean walk with friends from Queensland.

We often stop by the Portsea pub when in the area, as it is dependable for a pub lunch with a great view. We went for lunch on Monday and it was very relaxing with a minimal crowd compared to week ends. We had the mussels which were lovely, and our son had the fish and chips which were also great. Only downfall was not enough bread with the mussels to mop up. Otherwise great service , good food and great view. A bit over priced, but you pay for the view and for actually being at Portsea Pub! Recommended for a casual lunch.

Good food and self service bar and food be early on weekends as outdoor areas fill quickly. Enjoy a glass of wine and watch the ships enter and leave Port Phillip Bay. Also scenic walks around Port Nepean down towards the Heads.
