“Amazing & SO relaxing”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

My partner and I spent two amazing nights at Pelican Sands. From the moment we arrived on the Friday night, we were greeted by two of the loveliest people :-) Mick and Susan, a married couple who are also the owners of the place. We were lucky enough to have the whole house to ourselves that night, so we got a tour of each fabulous room. We stayed in the Bali Hai room (A little something to get us ready for our Bali trip next year for our anniversary) Each room is so beautifully decorated and spotless. I loved the beautiful romance room, like stepping into a Romeo and Juliet move scene...the Arabian nights room was gorgeous, so was the Indira room and the BEAUTIFUL Moulin Rouge room upstairs (Only one without a spa...but the balcony makes up for it!)...a gorgeous and inviting house all round...and it even has it's own gift shop with lovely hand crafted bits and pieces...just GORGEOUS. This place is exactly what you are looking for on a relaxing, romantic getaway. The bed in the room was SO comfy...the spa so spacious...even the bubble bath is provided for you and there is a selection of DVD's in your room, none of this "pay to watch" business you find in other places!! Those little touches made the place even more special. The shower was the highlight for me...I am VERY fussy with bathrooms and this one was BRILLIANT!! No water saving head, just your good old fashioned shower heads that you cannot find anywhere anymore. MAGNIFICENT. The breaky was cooked for us by Mick and was delicious. Fresh fruit salad and yoghurt, cereals, toast, juice and coffee...and then eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato..the works! We met some lovely couples on the morning we were leaving at breakfast...all in all, I recommend this place to any couple looking to getaway from the stresses of everyday...just perfect.

Room Tip: Although we stayed in the Bali Hai room...the Romance room was much larger and looked a lot more rom...

Richly colored, highly elaborate and ornate is how you would experience the splendour of our stay at Pelican Sands. We recieved a friendly welcome from our hosts, started our days with a lavishing breakfast, a stroll through the gift shop (a long stroll ladies) and on our way out, took a walk along the beach. Must mention, a glass of wine on the top deck over looking the ever glades at sunset - what more could you want!!....... the "Romance Room" - inspiring intimacy and privacy. FANTASTIC!! Next stay will be longer.....

Room Tip: Chooses a room to suit your mood...

What a lovely place we stumbled on when we got to Portarlington. Each room is decorated impeccably with its own theme. We stayed in the "Arabian nights" room and felt like we had been transported to another place. This property has excellent guest facilities form inviting common areas to well appointed bathrooms. You can be as private or as social as you like. The hosts are some of the best we have encountered in our travels across the globe. If you are looking for a nice place to stay on the coast then you can't go past Pelican Sands.

Room Tip: downstairs room each have a spa

This place is awesome. The rooms are really enjoyable; some with spas in beautifully appointed bathrooms. Nice hosts, great breakfasts in the main kitchen next to the very comfy and spacious living area upstairs with a wood fire, and even a view from the deck; and peaceful. We're coming back for our seconfd stay; this one twice as long as the first. Chris

Room Tip: Just choose a room theme that looks like fun for you.
